did you even read that article 😭 sh ideation is different than sh ocd. maybe educate yourself before defending trauma porn?
Aight. I can dissect this on so many levels. Don’t expect me to answer any more of your anon asks. I’ll be saying everything I want to here, I refuse to give you more of the attention you are so desperate for.
Number 1: Let's consider the fact that I am now the third blog we know of that you have inconvenienced yourself with. You have taken the time out of your day, to go and complain to us, that we are wrong to defend a friend and a fic they have written - based on personal experience about a diagnosis from a licensed professional.
Damn, your life must be so boring to hunt us down and stalk OP’s AO3 and Tumblr blog; especially since the only way you would have found my blog is to check the notes and reblogs on OP’s original posts responding to your shitty anon asks - of which you spammed her with MULTIPLE. I imagine you’re just as miserable a person in real life as online, seeing as you never learned from your parents, teachers, and other members of your community that if you don't have anything kind to say, don't fucking say it.
And - oh look! How predictable, you’re hiding behind guest users on AO3 and in the anon askboxes on Tumblr. Cant even take accountability for your own actions by connecting it to yourself… wonder if that's because you know you’re an asshole and you know this would make people you know irl disappointed in you.
Number 2: OH LOOK! You can read! Congratulations you made it past 5th grade. Your reading comprehension seems to be lacking though. Yes, SH ideation (SI) and SH OCD are two different things. If you had good reading comprehension, you would see that SH OCD is thoughts about SH that make you anxious, versus SI they cause you relief.
In the fic where you seemingly were unable to read the tags (more on that later) that CLEARLY state the fic regards OCD and suicidal thoughts, and is moreover tagged under the serious and infamous “Dead Dove” tag, you still chose to consume this media. Either you don't know basic vocab or what any of those tags mean. And those two tags i mentioned - OCD and suicidal thoughts? Yeah people diagnosed with depression and SH OCD can struggle with both at the same time - has that ever occurred to your small brain?
Apparently not, but that's what the fic you so love to label as “trauma porn” combines - and, yeah, it's a heavy topic. But that's why tags exist, so no one gets triggered by them, and you just choose to ignore them. Oh, and by the way? The definition of the term pornography, which porn is shorthand for, is “the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement” - which notably, this fic isn't meant to “excite” anyone. This fic was intended to bring awareness to a diagnosis and a community that has been oversimplified in pop culture to describe someone as a neat freak, when that is only HALF of what many people on the OCD spectrum struggle with in their day to day.
Number 3: Ah yes. We have finally reached the lesson titled “fanfiction etiquette”. Since no one has taken the time to teach it to you, allow me. It combines many a thing I’ve already touched on, so hopefully this won’t be difficult for someone of your lackluster IQ to comprehend.
AO3 IS NOT A SAFE SPACE. It was never intended to be, unless the safe space is for writers who don’t write your run-of-the-mill romance, action, or comedy style stories. And this fic you vehemently hate definitely does NOT fall in any of those categories at its core.
On AO3 (and Tumblr) it is VITAL that you read each and every tag an author places on their fic to make sure you don't trigger yourself in regards to any topic, trope, and most importantly trauma that that fic might touch on. It should and usually isn't any writer's goal to cause another person perusing the internet looking for something they like to accidentally be triggered by their work - something it seems you keep implying was done to you, even though the proper tags were all there.
And if you do find a fic that has tags you do not like, the general consensus in the fic community is to just keep scrolling - it takes much less effort than anything you have done to crucify OP’s fic in the last 24-36 hours. A lot of people simplify this concept into the plainer phrase of “don’t yuck other people’s yums”, which is hopefully dumbed down enough for you to understand. If you skip over a tag and didn’t see it, and then happen to be angry or disappointed in the fic but it is correctly tagged - you guessed it! - exit out of the fic and keep scrolling. Again, takes much less effort than spamming hate into peoples comments as a guest or as an anon in an askbox.
You curate your own experience on AO3 because there is no algorithm. Just pure filtering capabilities. Learn to use them.
All in all, learn to not be a dick. Learn to hold your fucking tongue sometimes - it would do wonders in helping you not be a dick.
