What an amazing end to an amazing API experience. We were recognized as a finalist for the Connect, Think, Motivate, PTC Design, Rockwell Collins Innovate Awards in addition to being recognized as the Finalist Alliance. If this wasn’t overwhelming enough, next we were recognized as API Inspire Award winners!
We can not thank our hosts at Macquarie University and the members of Thunder Down Under enough for their hospitality and for running an event with a foundation of friendship first and competition second. It led to the development of great connections with teams around the world.
What a well fought competition. After putting up our season high of 23 particles in the center vortex in match play, we combined with Rise of the Hephaestus for a season high 310 (believed to be tied for the second highest non penalty score in the world this year) point semi-final match. In the end, we came up just short in the finals to our friends Screw It! from Taiwan but were successful in finishing as the Finalist Alliance. Not bad for all the abuse Big Al went through in transport and an unintended entanglement with another robot during match play that caused some damage to Big Al.
What a great competition!
Proud to be the first selection of the 3 Seed Alliance with Captain Rise of Hephaestus (4216) and TechMate (92000).
Now that’s chocolate. Great time tonight with the U.S. and Australian teams and Max Brenners. We need to franchise this place in the states and make sure to bring you all along as it wouldn’t be the same without you.
Our new friends BEAST from Australia and Screw It from Taiwan. STEM and gracious professionalism truly are global. Nice to meet you guys. We definitely need to stay in touch.
Wow! What a FIRST day!! Judging (cut short but went well), practice matches and a brief exploration of campus are complete. We even had a chance to participate in the FIRST Ladies event. Now its time for some rest (yeah right) before matches begin tomorrow.
Morning one and we have already met a number of teams. What a blast! Taiwan, China, Romania, Macau, Australia among others. China even brought their own reality TV video crew. Hope we make the cut.
Hello to all and looking forward to friendly competition and, even better, making new friendships.
