rules lawyer \\ jax && sylvia
bJax hadn’t been over Sylvia’s house for quite some time, but she wasn’t very worried about it. She was assuming that he was figuring out how to handle the hard drive situation, which was something they needed to tread carefully. Sylvia had purchased several large law textbooks from the bookstore that she had been annotating and taking notes from very diligently.
She had just finished filling her sixth notebook when she heard Phi waking up outside. Sylvia slapped the notebook shut and placed it on top of the rather precarious stack of books on her living room table to check the front door. It was rather early in the morning for visitors, so she wasn’t surprised to see Jax heading up the cobblestone path that led to her door. She opened it up and gestured for him to enter.
Sylvia attempted to stifle a yawn that was threatening to give away her all-nighter and smiled. “Long time, no see. I hope you’re not here with another gunshot wound.” He appeared fine, but he also seemed to be good at hiding his problems. “I hope you’ve been getting enough sleep.” It was hypocritical of her to even say it, but she was used to staying up all night.
“Let me get you some tea, it’s pretty early so I’ll make something invigorating.” She motioned for him to sit in the living room before jetting off to the kitchen to brew a quick pot. She tossed in allspice, peppermint, orange peel, cinnamon bark and black pepper before letting it seep. Soon enough she was whisking herself back into the living room with two cups. Xan apparently had been awoken by the front door and was sleepily exiting Sylvia’s bedroom; she was practically dragging herself along the floor as she hopped up onto the seat next to Jax.
“So what’s going on?”
