VELU PRABHAKARAN July 18 2025 It is disheartening to learn the demise of Velu Prabhakaran known for his bold films on atheism and sexuality. He was a well known cinematographer before he turned director. I had watched only Kadavul and Puratchikaaran among his films and found them interesting if not wholesome. I have heard rave reviews about his debut film Nalaiya Manithan but didnt get to watch it. During college days, I was a budding atheist and loved exploring atheism in the films Kadavul and Puratchikaaran. I loved the song "Arivu Iruntha Konjam Yosichu Paaru" from the movie Kadavul. I remember a bus journey from Gandhipuram to Chinna Vedampatti with my friend Vinod being consumed by our naïve discussion on the song. May his soul find peace.
