They collapsed as the petals scattered around them; A bright and happy pink color, spattered with their dark red blood. They were fluttering around as Rain's hand settled into a pool of their own life fluid, gearing up for yet another expulsion.
Their chest ached as they gasped for breath, hardly able to breathe between the liquid and the petals choking them.
"Please," They cried, horrorstricken by the twisted and painful feeling, both physical and emotional, "Please no." Their begging fell on the gods' deaf ears as they heaved and coughed deeply, more petals being painfully rejected from their body. "NO!"
They slammed a fist on the ground, not caring about the pain as they did so. It was just another bruise to add to the many that decorated their body.
Despite how hard they had tried to deny it in the beginning stages, the disease was taking hold, and they begged and pleaded and screamed to the heavens that it wasn't true. It couldn't be true! He loved them back! He had to!
A gut-wrenching sob escaped them as they curled up there on the floor.
Of course he didnt love them back.
Unrequited love brought this disease on, and that alone. As much as they wanted it to be a mistake, a lie, they knew very well who his heart belonged to. They also knew that they couldn't take that happiness away from him. Even if it meant their own eventual demise.
