They’re replacing a water main on the street in front of work today (They’ve been doing this for the past week) and they cracked a gas main a few hours ago. So now they entire street is blocked off as they deal with the rupturing gas.
I just heard the instruction for somebody trying to get to our location “if the police try to stop you [from walking down the street], just tell them you’re coming here.”
Just after it happened a cop asked the construction workers if they had shut off all their equipment, and they said they had, and I realized then that the loud rumble I was hearing that I assumed was an engine was the sound of the gas venting.
