Recipe - Veri Peri
Flash Fic Feb Day 1: The prompt was Veri Peri, the Pantone color of the year - one that's supposed to symbolize creativity and personal expression. It had a lot of scope for introspection. Brain said nah and went silly instead 😂
"Should it be that color?" David asks, swirling the viscous liquid around the glass and watching it coat the walls, before sliding reluctantly back down to the bottom. "Actually better question, should it be that texture?"
Jack glances from the vibrant purple mass shifting slowly back into its place in their highball glass, to the how-to video showing a beautifully gradiated red and blue cocktail. "Maybe it tastes good?"
He poked at the glass, and the substance inside jiggled mournfully.
David made an incredulous sound "It's Blue Curacao, tomato juice, and tequila." He eyed the glass doubtfully. Was it a trick of the light or was the purple abomination slowly inching it's way up the sides ? The goop shimmered innocently when he looked at it. At least it was pretty.
Jack took a deep breath and steeled himself. "Okay, I'm going to try it!"
"I'm going to call poison control."
"Oh come on! When has a tiktok recipe ever steered us wrong?"
"Cotton candy pickles. Mountain Dew grilled cheese. Spaghetti O's pie, microwave custard, pumpkin spice tur-"
A resounding crash split the room, and the boys whipped around just in time to see a periwinkle blur round the corner into the living room, leaving a shiny, sticky trail in it's wake. David pinched the bridge of his nose.
"I'm calling animal control. Again."
Jack shrugged "Still better than the Mountain Dew grilled cheese."
