Today (20.3.2025) marks the vernal equinox in the northern hemisphere and the beginning of astronomical spring. Thus, the sun's orbit (ecliptic) has crossed the celestial equator (declination 0°) - so callet "vernal point". Previously, some civilizations considered this celestial phenomenon as the beginning of a new year (agricultural calendars according to the movement of the stars and the Sun). For us, it means that the days begin to lengthen, the seasonal depression from gloom and coldness mostly pass, and the nature around us awakens from its winter slumber - it is the season of birdsong, young life, green leaves and spring flowers.
