Biggest regret?
Character questions!!!
Jack isn’t a man who believes in regrets for the most part. He doesn’t see a purpose in getting caught up in the past when it’s the future and the actions that are done that matter. It’s what he’s done in the past that shape who he is today, and he’s pretty proud of that outcome despite what’s been against him.
That being said, if he’s honest, his biggest regret(s) are not going back for Ana and Gabriel (he actually sort of did go back for Gabriel but he never sees this and it’s what causes him to get his jaw messed up in the explosion). They’re both incredibly important to him, both from what I see in the comics and the storyline I’ve developed with @pharahsmom and @veroire and their complicated yet really intimate relationship attests to this. It’s really through the former (Ana) that Jack realized just how much the three of them were close and how much Ana played into their trio that allowed Jack and Gabriel to function as well as they did. Losing her really did a number on the two of them and they split shortly after. If I’m doing my math right, the base exploded only a year or two after she was gone so it goes to show just how much she meant. And since Jack’s pretty horrid with words he doesn’t ever really get to express this until several years later. There’s not a night he doesn’t think about it and it’s both a relief and a bunch of other feelings to know they’re both still alive.
I think there was gonna be more to this but that’s what I can think of now lmfao

“Better off without him.”
“I tell myself that, but then I remember that... I’m questionin’ myself because I wanted some fuckin’ Disney ending. But any man who knocks a teenager up and leaves the country before the baby’s born isn’t a man I’d want to meet. Ain’t the man I wanna be”
“I had a dad who taught me better than that”

He doesn’t say anything. Smoke stretches across the room, and he steps out of it at her threshold, “You’ve been looking for me.”
“I have.” She won’t deny him the obvious; the monitors and maps are all tell tale signs anyway. Ana remains sat on the edge of her mattress, finger lightly tracing the edge of the dart gun. “Seems you wanted to find me first.”

“Yeah, sure,” a rare good mood, comfortable and hazy, “Tired of this place?”
“More like tired, as a whole,” Ana admits; she rarely lets herself get to this point, subject to being the responsible one. “It’s a little stuffy.”
