The Versatile Blogger Award
I want to thank Sami, of Sparkle and Shine, for nominating me for The Versatile Blogger Award!
As per usual, I did my usual award research. I traced this award back to May 2010, where it just seems to pop out of nowhere! Surprisingly, this award is the first award I have encountered where the rules for acceptance and nominations have not changed over the years. The award image has been modified a few different ways. Here is the original award logo:
I traced one of the more recent award images back to May 2010 as well. A French blogger was nominated by her friend (whose blog is no longer in existence). That friend created this updated award logo, which is now commonly used.
Here are the rules for accepting and passing on The Versatile Blogger Award:
Thank the blogger who nominated you, and link back to their blog.
List 7 fun facts about yourself.
Nominate 15 other bloggers to receive the award. Your nominees should be bloggers that are versatile in nature. Their blogs should include a mix of stories, poems, messages, essays, etc. (as the original blog logo shows).
I'm artistic, but not creative. Unlike most, I am able to be somewhat artistic by mimicking things. If you show me a drawing, I'm able to break it into bits and pieces, and then recreate it myself. However, I am not what I would call "creative". I can not paint the view outside my window, nor can I come up with a drawing on my own (the best you'll get in that situation might be some stick figures).
My favorite color is violet, not simply purple. I do like purple - don't get me wrong - but violet is so unique to me. That slight tint of blue within the purple is just gorgeous.
My dog is named Toby because, as a puppy, she used to chase us and pounce on our toes. She also would bite them playfully. So I named her "Toby".
I was supposed to be a Valentine's Day baby. Instead, I was born a week late (on February 21). I'm glad that I don't have to share my birthday with a holiday. Although, I like attributing my ridiculous romanticism to my supposed-to-be birth date.
I have the hardest time talking about myself. If you ask me a question about myself, I can answer it. And then I can probably further discuss the topic with you. But if you ask me for a fun fact, I'm always stumped. In other words, writing these seven facts about myself is kind of like my writing hell.
I'm a closet geek. I'm an obvious smarty-pants nerd to anyone that knows me. But if you really get to know me, you'll soon discover all sorts of geeky fun. I make Stargate references more often than I care to admit (Indeed, I've seen all of SG1). As a kid, I asked for (and received) both a microscope and telescope for Christmas. I can point out the different planets at night without missing a beat (especially Mars). I've been on a computer since the age of 2. I'm genuinely upset that Pluto isn't a planet. And so on...you get the idea.
I'm way too sentimental. I have the hardest time throwing things away or cleaning out. This doesn't coincide well with my OCD, which prefers a clean, clutter-free life.
