dark had easily corrupted the sky in jake’s dawdling. the moon came out as a sliver & stars showed themselves like crystals hanging useless in the sky. street lights flickered on & jake was already standing directly underneath one.

         he got concerned glances here & there          from the crowd of people walking through          the streets:: either to home, or to dinner.          people probably questioning him as——          he’s a tall, young man frozen beneath a street          lamp, refusing to budge.

                          & how exactly will this play out??
