miles spent most of his life on the plate in sector seven. he & his parents lived in a cozy little house there. for the last year, however, most of miles’ life has been contained to sector five, where he got into an elite school usually intended for the children of shinra executives that live in that sector. most people considered him lucky. miles wasn’t so sure.
the prim & proper way of the plate was never his thing. &, with sector five even worse than sector seven, he finds himself searching for rebellion in the only way he can: by taking his student train pass down to the sector seven slums to visit his uncle, & , if he had a little extra money, which he always did after visiting his uncle, stop by seventh heaven for a snack & a soda. it’s a nice routine. he gets to spend time with his uncle, hang out in a place where people feel real, & he doesn’t mind hanging out with marlene on nights where he stops at seventh heaven & everything’s a little too busy. but just when he settles in, things change.
he’s never asked what his uncle does, & that was never a problem until he comes to visit while aaron’s not home & gets bitten by a spider–––– one of shinra’s mako experiments his uncle was supposed to dispose of. & from then on, nothing is the same. on the outside, nothing much looks different. there’s a brightness to his eyes that wasn’t there before, but without the color change it’s not very noticeable. despite that, he suddenly has abilities he never had before. a sense of danger heading in his direction, the ability to stick to things that allows him to crawl up walls & ceilings, & strength far too powerful for his frame ( the bio-electricity & invisibility are there, but he doesn’t discover them until later ).
as odd as it is, he quickly accepts it as his new reality, & learning control over these became part of his new routine.
& then, just as things begin to feel normal again...the plate drops.
the entire plate was in a panic. phones couldn’t go through. trains stopped. no one had information. &, unable to contact anyone, miles makes the decision to use his abilities to head down to the slums as quickly as possible to help with cleanup & rescue &, hopefully, find his missing family safe & alive.
