Bill wasn’t sure what exactly it was but something about the man felt familiar. He’d never met him before, but there was something about him. It was like they were supposed to meet. He’d felt the same way when he met each of the Losers for the first time. He’d been friends with Eddie for years and Bev, Stan and Richie were in his year at school, but that summer their connection was as strong as if they had know each other their whole life. When there had been six of them, he had somehow known that they were waiting for one more and not just anyone would fit. It had to be Mike.
They had been drawn together for a reason and right now, he felt like he had back then. Bill had learned to trust his intuition and for that reason, Bill didn’t run away. Stranger danger was something they preached back in Derry – not that staying away from strangers did any good. The monster preying on their children couldn’t been caught like that and IT could take all shapes and forms, even that of those you loved. Beverly had seen her dad.
He wasn’t in Derry anymore either and he hoped that the standard for adults was higher than it was there – it wasn’t hard.
He had nothing else to do and nowhere else to go – his father had told him not to come back but Bill planned to sneak in later once they were in bed. Hopefully his father would have calmed down by tomorrow morning and have gone back to ignoring him. If not, or he couldn’t get in…well, he’d have to deal with that when he came to it. For now though, he had some time to kill.
“Fine. If it’ll get you of my ba-ack.”
Dan laughed at that. “That’s fair.” He didn’t push it and instead started to head in that direction. The kid followed- thank God- and while he sensed some amount of doubt about following a stranger, at least it wasn’t enough to have him in an awkward position. Lingering worries from when he and Abra first met.
Although, he wondered about why there was a pull; large amounts of distress or worrying thoughts or unnatural situations didn’t set anything off with his Shining, and the last time he really felt something like that was-
He kept walking while attempting to figure out if there was a shine to this kid or if he jumped to that conclusion. No, he had some amount of it. How much was unclear, but Dan was willing to bet he had good instincts about a lot of things at the very least. But saying ‘Excuse me, are you psychic’ wouldn’t work, and definitely asking about why he moved from Derry wouldn’t work.
'Well Doc, do you like ice cream?’ was what Dick went for. Maybe something like that...
He sent an experimental while we’re at the store do you want a Coke or something? Something harmless. Of course, he’d still help out regardless.
