Mia furiously wiped away tears as she parked up the car on the drive of her sisters house. She hated to cry, she hardly ever cried but for some reason she couldn’t stop. She had just returned from the hospital appointment about her ankle and it had not gone well. She had hoped that today might have been the day that she got her boot off, but no such luck. It was healing much slower than they hoped and she was stuck in the boot for even longer. Which also meant even longer away from the stage. She was heartbroken. 

She sat in the car for another few minutes, in attempt to compose herself before she finally climbed out and headed to the front door of the house, walking inside. Half of her wanted to go straight to her room, curl up on her bed and mope and the other half needed her sister. She decided on the latter. “Kat?” She called out into the house, hoping her sister was actually home now.

Mia had been as excited for the carnival as she had been as a child. Just like old tradition, she had gone to the event with her eldest sister, Kat and just as she had been all those years ago, she was still in awe of all the rides and booths set up. She didn’t have a clue where to start. After she had finished working at the gym’s booth with Dylan, she had practically dragged her sister around all the rides in the first hour of them being there, which only left the booths and stalls to explore. Kat didn’t mind though, she loved rides almost as much as Mia. 

In addition to the thrill of the event, Mia’s boot had also finally come off a few days prior. She was still strapped up in an ankle support and had her Doc Martens on for extra protection, but she felt great. Kat had disappeared off to get some food, while Mia desperately tried to win a teddy at a ring toss game. And she wasn’t doing too well. “Damn!” She cursed when she lost again, ready to pay for another round.

Lucie had spent much of the evening at her piano, attempting to write a song, but everything she wrote royally sucked. Trying to be creative while sober was near impossible.

She sang through a section of the song she was working on before dropping her elbows on the piano, letting out a deep sigh, as a loud tuneless chord played around her. She stood up and opened her balcony doors, not at all shocked when she saw Kat sat out there. “Hey,” she greeted, dropping rather ungracefully onto a chair.

After spending the night at the hospital with Vasi, Mia drove back home, parked up the car and walked through the front door, still dressed in last night’s clothes. If you didn’t know any better, it almost looked like a walk of shame. The last twelve hours had been horrific and Mia couldn’t wait for a shower and to crawl into bed and sleep. The adrenaline and now left her body and she was exhausted. She dropped the keys in the bowl by the door and headed towards her room, noticing Kat sitting at the kitchen island as she walked past. “Hey.” She spoke, ready to disappear for the rest of the day.
