Vert Midi : The place to go for a Green lunch in Paris !
(English Version)
Today I am introducing Vert Midi, a place to go for a Green lunch in Paris ! This charming restaurant is hidden on a street corner right in the second arrondissement. It appears out of the blue like a good surprise.
Its name “Green Noon” is an indication of its environmental credentials. The shop owners spent five years in reflexion before starting construction ! Quite normal, the restaurant is eco-designed and it has required time to define the proper materials with which to build it. The parquet is made of bamboo, the tables and chairs are recycled and got a second lease of life in the shop. In addition to this, the shop is managed in a responsible way. You can find lunch bags made of kraft paper, business cards made from recycled paper and receipts labelled FSC (paper from responsibly managed forests). After the lunch, customers are invited to sort their leftovers.
Vert Midi is clearly committed to being eco-friendly, and it is not a matter of following the trend but of real values shared by its owners. The place offers fast and upscale lunches, they define themselves as a salad bar which offers made-to-measure meals to suit everyone’s taste and served in edible bowls. You can let your imagination flow according to your desire to make up your salad. The restaurant also offers daily recipes and hot meals with fresh, local and seasonal products. A partnership has been set up with a local producer who every morning, delivers freshly picked fruits and vegetables.
The house also offers some Argentinian specialities like homemade empanadas (stuffed breads with meat, vegetables or cheese). Among all those good things, their best sellers remain the fruit juice. Fresh and juicy, they are prepared in front of you! These fruity cocktails give you the right amount of energy for the day or can simply be good refreshments.
A funny touch, is the fruits and vegetable cart in the middle of the shop, it is for customers who would like to do their shopping just after their lunch. Their coffees, teas and sugars are from fair trade sources and a mini grocery with organic and ethical products hangs in the corner of the shop.
I like the place for its handcrafted charming decor and their fast and tasty lunches. I do say “lunches” because they are open only until 4 pm. A second shop just opened a few months ago in the third arrondissement.
