bro is SHOCKED
Today I am very disappointed with the criminal justice system. Most of the people I know have been very upset with the sentence handed out earlier this morning. Last May, there were two 17 year old students killed in a car accident and a 16 year old was left in severe condition with more than 30 fractures in her body and various other problems. The cause of this accident was a woman who had stolen a truck. The women and a minor were out driving this stolen truck when the police attempted to pull them over. Yet instead of pulling over and abiding by the law, the women sped up and slammed into the innocent teen's car, killing two and severely injuring the last. When all the facts were laid down, the women was found out to be drunk, having consumed more than twice the legal limit, and this was not her first theft charge. Anyway so her sentence was handed out today, and it left many many people appalled and upset. The judge sentenced her to 6 years in prison, but having already been incarcerated for the last year and a bit, she only has to spend 4 of those years in prison. And she will be able to get out on good behaviour after 2 1/2 years. And I don't know about you, but to me, 4 years in prison for murdering two kids doesn't seem like enough time. In fact it seems very much like a slap on the wrist. Whilst the rest of us have gotten a slap to the face. Those two teens that died were both incredible and I say that with complete confidence as I knew them both. They deserve better than this. Their memory deserves better than this. I am angry.
