Another thing about the captive prince trilogy that I really liked was that Pacst doesn’t hold the readers hand when it comes to understanding their characters which I seriously appreciate!! They aren’t worried about the reader misinterpreting Laurent in the first book or siding with the Regent (like Damen did). They let the reader go through the same journey as Damen does to understanding Laurent. And they don’t stop or point their finger and shake their head to explain to the reader that what Laurent did is bad or that the regent is evil. You understand that for yourself and reach the conclusion on your own which again I think is becoming a lost art as more authors seem afraid of their readers misinterpretating their characters or feeling like they need to hold the readers hand and explain why bad things happen or what is bad. It’s just very refreshing because genre (and a lot of other popular books) seem the favor the former rather than the latter.
