well I convinced my (non-fandom, hasn't seen the Avengers) friend who shipped tony/pepper from the movies to ship steve/tony and also convinced my teacher that tony was bisexual not straight also from the lack of argument and laughing from everyone else I'm going to assume they were convinced

my friend was all 'HOW WAS THE AVENGERS' and I went into my usual screaming/squealing mash-up feat. 'FUCCCCCCCK'

I must have squished 'alsotonyandsteveomg' in there somewhere because somehow we got onto that topic and she said 'BUT WHAT ABOUT PEPPER? D:'

so then I told her that I really liked tony and pepper's relationship but I liked steve/tony more as a potential relationship and she said 'BUT THEY LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER' and I said well maybe but in the comics no they break up and pepper marries happy

then she said 'BUT TONY ISN'T GAY WHAT'

then I went into a rant about sexuality and my teacher was (jokingly, dropping into the conversation) like '[FRIEND] STOP SAYING TONY IS GAY'

and she said 'BUT THAT'S NOT ME THAT'S KIRA'

at which point I said '[TEACHER] PEOPLE CAN FALL IN LOVE WITH A PERSON OF THE SAME GENDER AND THEY CAN LIKE THE OPPOSITE GENDER'

and then she said '[FRIEND] ACCEPT THAT TONY IS BISEXUAL'

sooo after a bit of incoherent ranting about why shipping their characters appeals to me (STEVE'S FROM THE PAST AND TONY'S A FUTURIST AND THEY MEET IN THE MIDDLE) (AND THEY'RE A BATTLE COUPLE TOO AND PERFECT AND WONDERFUL AND DIFFERENT BUT EQUALS)

I asked her:

"Do you believe in people falling in love with other people regardless of gender? I mean, if you really truly loved someone, gender wouldn't matter, right?"

and because I go to a very awesome school with very awesome people she said 'no, of course not'

and I said "Well, in an alternate universe where Tony is a woman, they get married. So, what I guess I'm saying is there's potential for a romance and I like to believe they're soulmates."

at this point she was like 'yeah okay'

then she asked who steve was and I was like 'are you kidding, Captain America'

and she's like 'OH MY GOD THAT IS KIND OF CUTE'

also I told her about the Tony-Flying-Steve places thing and yes basically other people thought it was cute too and she said she kind of shipped it now (well she didn't actually say 'ship' but still)

the moral of the story is I love my school
