OKAY SO
you got my babies from the trilogy
Cyri: skinny redhead who’s still really lanky when she’s about to go into college, so she’s 17. she’s the oldest of 5 and gets really anxious about things, also strongly protective and has a really stupid sense of humor (think dad jokes). she goes to try and find her mom, who got kidnapped into another dimension, takes her siblings with her, hijinks ensue. also she falls in love with the stolen prince who’s been raised by the evil people (not gonna talk about him here but I LOVE HIM HE’S GREAT) and they have to go around and talk to DRAGONS and fight SHADES and argue with her SIBLINGS she’s a sweetie. she also is kinda badass by the end and can wield these dual swords that might be sentient/bloodthirsty. her best bro is a wind spirit named Aliza who hangs around her (and might have used to be hUMAN THERE’S SECRETS THERE), and she’s starting to pick up the ability to ~see~ the wind spirits which is a pretty rare skill. gryffindor, would be a firebender
Ryan: Cyri’s younger brother, only boy out of 5 kids, 15 or so. he’s the one who goes on the internet a lot so he’s a meme-loving fuck and a HUGE NERD. he can cook like a motherfucker and is also bi. might have had a thing for this snake chick they ran into one time. also bros with a wind spirit named Lenny (big things goin’ on with the wind spirits). he really likes knowledge but only like random facts. hufflepuff, would be a non-bender
Nicole and Makena: they’re identical twins, 12 (and their names will almost definitely change) and they do the twin thing where one of them talks a lot and the other one barely talks at all (nicole and makena respectively). they get super into magic and healing especially and nicole can get really annoying but makena’s good at reeling her back in. they also hang out with wind spirits. in another novel i wrote, we get to see makena when she’s mid-late 20s and much more confident in herself. haven’t written what happens to nicole yet but she kinda goes down a dark path when [SPOILERS]. nicole’s a slytherin and an earthbender and makena’s a hufflepuff, and a waterbender
Alison: the youngest at 10. likely on the autism spectrum, and has a remarkable skill where she can read at really high speeds and retain information really well. also EXTREMELY good at languages. she gets really into magic too, but mostly theory, at least at first. something happened to her particular wind spirit friend, satomi, so she can’t talk. she becomes friends with this dude named toby and in later book(s) they travel together in the alternate dimension after things happen. in those we get to see her older, around 20, and she’s really cheerful and quick-witted and kinda violent. toby’s a good balance for her there but i’m not gonna talk about him because goddamn this is getting long already (sorry toby i love you). definitely a ravenclaw, would probably be an airbender or a nonbender.
Elsa: i swear to God i wrote this before frozen came out so i might have to change her name because of the damn movie. she’s the mom of the 5 kids and her husband is actually from the other dimension (also not gonna talk about him here, sorry dude i love you too). she had beef with this meminist-type dude named Kevin when she was a teen, and he ended up becoming the main evil guy thanks to hosting dark spirits/demons (he’s an asshole). she battles him at the beginning of the novel that focuses on her children, in order to keep him away from them, and gets captured. she’s tortured and forced to fight in a one-on-one style area and gets the name the angel of death because she refuses to lose but also refuses to kill unless she’s forced to. she had the original pair of possibly sentient/bloodthirsty dual swords which Cyri later picks up and is friends with the Green Dragon. she’s definitely a gryffindor and would probably be an earthbender or possibly a firebender
there’s also lots of dragons with their own personalities, and this amulet thing that keeps back the shades/demon things, and so many things. i only have one book written of the three but i have the other two planned out, but it’s probably the biggest world i’ve written so far
OKAY THEN
we got the babes from the magical coffee shop (fun fact none of them are white and none of them are straight). it’s more of a slice-of-life or interconnected episodes than a full plot i guess
Lark: she’s human, and living in a similar world to our modern day, but one where monsters/mythological creatures revealed themselves about 5-10 years ago, so magic is becoming much more normalized. she runs into this phoenix dude and becomes friends with him and some others. she’s half chinese and ace as hell, and her defining characteristic is that she’s really kind. she makes friends with all sorts of creatures that everyone, magical or not, tends to shun (like kitchen imps). she ends up getting work at the magical coffee shop and shenanigans ensue. she’s a hufflepuff and would be an airbender or a non-bender
Atish: the aforementioned phoenix dude, bit of a prick at first but he gets over it. he’s about as old as human civilization and has a huge-ass room (inspired by that one tumblr post about it) with portraits or photos or sketches of all the loved ones he’s lost. he HATES water and steams when he comes into contact with it (it doesn’t hurt him per se, unless he were fully immersed without his special charm that his merdude friend made for him. lark keeps telling him to get it tattooed to cut down on the possibility of accidents, but he does not listen). he’s pan and was originally persian or mesopotamian or something. he’s pretty sure he’s the only phoenix in existence but he keeps hearing rumors so he’s always searching, but on the DL. he’s a slytherin or possibly a ravenclaw and a firebender
Keme: this merdude who lives in the lake in the park. he’s really chill and in a very loving relationship with his wife, but has had plenty of flings in the past before he was married (if pressured he would probably say he was bi, but usually just shrugs at you when you ask). he’s some sort of native american but when you ask what tribe he just makes a gurgling sound, which he claims is fish speak. he’s been in the same lake since before the europeans ever got to the americas but he doesn’t keep track of things like how old he is. likes to explore the miles and miles of tunnels underneath the city and is a proficient graffiti artist. bros with the ironically-named George the dragon, who lives underground and is kinda like the king of the graffiti artists (it’s tradition to spray paint something in his cave before you go around the city to paint). he cracks dumb jokes and never seems to notice when he’s naked in his human form, also like is 6'4 and buff as hell. he’s another gryffindor or possibly a hufflepuff, and a waterbender
Minali: she’s a were-tigress from India, and probably the youngest besides Lark, coming in at just under 300 years old (probably. there’s something going on there that she hasn’t told yet). super in love with her girlfriend Rachel, who’s half-fairy and a medical student. has a snappy sort of humor and can be kind of abrasive. ends up moving in with lark after a fire salamander incident at her apartment. she’ll fuck you up if she has to, tends to be street-wise over book-wise. she’s a gryffindor, and a firebender
