back, yuuji gives choso a back hug !

he really has to give it to his little brother. his physical strength continues to grow and grow - and believe him, choso feels it the moment their bodies collide. he GRUNTS, surpise & shock causes him to loose his footing, - but it's brief. he's able to, albiet clumsily, plant his feet well enough to keep them from launching forward. Confused, he turns his head, trying to get a good look at his younger brother.

he stands there still - unmoving - worried that so much as a breath will let the moment end. the contact is rare, especially coming from yuuji. their relationship has always been... complicated. so for him to have given such an open sign of affection, - it brings a warmth within choso's chest.

it's almost too much.

that same warmth now burns behind purple eyes, threatening to leak down his face through tears. he raises his arms to rest upon the ones around his waist, giving them a gentle squeeze. a message in return, that for as long as younger boy will allow him to, he will be there for him. for whatever he may need.

as bluntly as he speaks, megumi doesn't mean to come off as doubtful by any means. he thinks he knows better than anyone that itadori isn't wrong. itadori is strong enough for anything. still, megumi thinks that if he allows himself to take that fact for granted, the ba dump ! that keeps time in the back of his mind, that still - beating heart in the grasp of sukuna’s sharp claws, would only double in volume until he hears nothing else.

he likes to think he knows itadori well by now ; thinks he can see through the confident grin about as well as he can tell when gojo’s own is a little less annoying than usual ; when he can tell that itadori is thinking of the lives he couldn’t save, when he can tell that suguru geto’s specter has recently haunted the school grounds.

for as much as itadori tries to take everything in stride, megumi still knows how he suffers. and, for as much as he will never regret saving him, there remains a part of him still cognizant of the fact that his choice to save him has enabled itadori’s suffering.

art is subjective. there's no correct interpretation of its merit; && there's no defining criteria of what makes something GOOD or BAD. even the imagined prerequisites that people fixate on when judging art through a supposedly “objective” lens aren't fixed or immutable. if beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then so is UGLINESS. maybe that's why he finds comfort in cinema.

art is subjective. junpei believes that the decline of practical effects is a TRAGEDY. CGI has its value, but the extent to which blockbusters rely on it nowadays feels cheap && glossy; the aspect of immersion is lost. superhero movies are among the most notorious of the culprits, he thinks.

itadori doesn't seem to be particularly bothered; quite the contrary, he appears to be un-ironically enjoying the feature presentation. he all but bounces in his seat, the warmth in his eyes catching fire. junpei didn't even realize he was staring.

      "what'ya mean what am i doing out here? what are youuu doing out here?" his tone was light, teasing. truthfully, he really didn't care what any of the students do in their free time so long as they aren't dying on his watch. still, he at least has to try and play the role of a concerned teacher — or so nanami tells him.

      juuzou dug through his pocket and pulled out one of the snacks he shoved in there earlier. "umaibo?" he holds it out before pausing, head tilting to the side as he finally examined yuuji's appearance much closer. if he had to guess, something must've been on the young boy's mind. it only seemed logical given everything he has endured since entering the school. "sukuna keeping you up?"

he realizes with a start that he had been deep in thought, quiet while yuji's voice had filled the silence. it had been a long time since he lost someone under his care, but he still remembers it like it was yesterday. riko amanai. a young girl who he had briefly looked after like yuji, but she hadn't come back from the dead. he still remembers the weight of her lifeless body under his hands, the rage that had simmered in exposed eyes. his failure.

❛ ah, it's nothing to worry about. ❜ he brushes it under the rug, as he always does, a lopsided smile quickly making it's way across his face. gojo leans over the younger boy and ruffles his hair with a loose hand. ❛ just glad you're doing okay. let's work on keeping you alive next time. ❜

   "  then don't.  "  his words are painfully blunt and he's fully aware of that,  for there's simply no nice way of saying it.  though he's also aware his words are going to fall upon deaf ears  /  yuuji's the type of person who so boldly wears his heart on his sleeve  /  he can't help himself from being so vulnerable because of it.  megumi's aware of it all.  it's commendable for sure,  but equally as stupid.
