iPhone Filmmaking on the Rise; Accessories a Must
Almost every advancements in technology have, one way or another, created an impact on the film industry. There were also times when fictional devices and equipment featured on sci-fi movies became the inspiration for the latest mobile gadgets. Today, iPhones and smartphones have revolutionized the way people live, such that even filmmakers are using these gadgets to shoot short and full-length feature films.
Apple's iPhone have been used by many mainstream and indie filmmakers throughout the world.
Swedish director Malik Bendjelloul has revealed that his Oscar-winning documentary, Searching for Sugar Man, was partly filmed on an iPhone 4, for example. Meanwhile South Korean director Park Chan-Wook of the award-winning Old Boy, has also successfully made a 30-minute feature film, Night Fishing, on the same device. Many start-up production outfits are taking to this trend as this is an effective way to break the barrier and enter the movie world.
With the increasing popularity of iPhones among movie creators, plus the great demand for quality story and cinematography, it is essential for movie producers that employ the use of mobile devices to invest in reliable accessories such as monopods, steadicams, and even waterproof iPhone cases.
Continuous developments in technology require artists such as filmmakers, therefore, to upgrade not only their skills, but also the medium by which they showcase the same. Getting the right accessories for their chosen gadget, therefore, is not just something that must be considered only as an afterthought.
