ANCIENT SUMERIAN COFFEE CAKE

This is a loaf of bread made in the first century AD, discovered at Pompeii, preserved for centuries in the volcanic ashes of Mount Vesuvius. So it's probably a little dry. The markings visible on the top are from a Roman bread stamp, which bakeries were required to use in order to mark the source of the loaves and prevent fraud. Nobody likes fake bread.

I have substituted the agonizing scratching for a better method. The prior made my hands grow heavy with a disgusting substance that could possibly be contributed to my confusion unwell feeling (?) I often find I am bringing up an awful bile when I am near the black smoke. I have fought to stay away but I cannot help myself Aruvia, it's a beautiful picture. If only you could understand.

I saw something awful last night. It woke me from my slumber just before sun-up. I will take my time writing this out for you because, when I think about it, I get the bad feeling. It makes my ears ring, my eyes burn. Here is what I saw.

Two people... Both of them had an amused expression. I told them to leave but they wouldn't listen. I raised my voice but still they were deaf to me, unshaken. Suddenly, they boomed with inaudible demands, piercing my skull. They were ripped to pieces in flickering orange light. It danced on their faces with beauty and grace before dispatching them both and never did they stop smiling at me. That was the start and the end of them.

I can see it now. The knowledge that they couldn't hear me - that I couldn't do anything at all - made them happy. These... things... enjoyed it.

I don't know what to say, I-

I will attempt to recount the morning but take note Aruvia, that I shudder to do so.

Although the mist seemed to clear, I asked myself why I wished for clear vision in the first place. The world was disgusting Aruvia, rotten. A glacier of rocks and pebbles. Nothing more. Insufferable. I tried my hardest to keep my eyes open, stand on two feet and withstand the awful ringing noise.

I felt like someone was calling to me beyond the searing pain. Calling my name.

Me. What is my name?

Coughing, sharp and brittle, was how my morning really began. I am a day more from yesterday Aruvia, and have toiled over this world I live in. If you ever demand my name again, I will write... something. I'll think of something. It will keep me calm.

No-one else lives here... but us. I will make this life worth living for you Aruvia, bothersome though it may be to question but I am fraught with unanswered askings. What belongs here? There's something deeply fractured... but what?

I am not quite sure why... bothersome... bothersome? Why is it?

I looked around again today and found nothing. Nothing? No-one? No home?

Home...? Here is my home... isn't it...?

i’d feel bad picking a favourite oc because they are all my children but since i’m replaying origins i’m in a very warden mood so i’ll do these for elya !! thank you :D

1. What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?

hmmm when i first played origins elya was very much a blank slate and i had no idea what i was doing, but i remember towards the end i was thinking about how features of the gameplay itself had translated into her personality; the warden not having a voice and rarely facial expressions fed into elya being kind of stoic and appearing cold at times. she’s become less so now, she’s more kind of awkward and serious than cold. but that’s how she began !!!

8. What (if anything) do you relate to within their character/story? 

i definitely relate to how socially awkward she can be at times but like. she doesn’t really care she just rolls with it in a way i definitely do not. (………..this is probably a wish fullfillment thing)

10. If they have an LI, how much of their character is tailored to be compatible to that person? 

not a lot i don’t think? she and zevran are very different but when i was playing for the first time they just worked really well together and that was that. it’s hard to say since “falls in love with zevran” has been a part of her character from the beginning and she has changed a lot since then. i guess maybe a little since now that i think about it there’s no other character i can see her with haha

i already did 17 !!!

19. What is your favorite fact about your OC?

hmmmm probably how kind she is? like even if she ends up in terrible situations and she does some highly questionable things in service of the greater good she never loses her instinct to reach out and understand, and help if she can. she’s a good bean.

What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?

I think backstory came first with him? I can't recall details, but I vaguely remember Luk and I discussing a pilot character but his race and story didn't come until a bit later (I could be totally wrong it’s been 4 years lol) I think, for me personally, it's strange that I chose a Drell because at the time I didn't really care for them or really read up on their lore. That's changed since, obviously.

In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts?

Just space ships in general I guess. That's his life, what he's good at, what he's passionate about. His work with gangs like the Blue Suns, Eclipse or bandits in general as well as following the Drell Religion played a huge part in influencing his story, too.

If they have an LI, how much of their character is tailored to be compatible to that person?

He was married, but is separated. He doesn't have any LI after that and I don't think he ever will. Love is a hard thing for him to find, let alone a stable relationship. Even if I tried to tailor him to someone, his character wouldn't allow it to last long. The marriage basically destroyed him. He’s just not meant to have someone.

Is there some element you regret adding to your OC or their story?

Pretty much his entire backstory lol. It's so horrible I feel kinda bad for doing that to him, but that's just how it is. In terms of design I sort of regret where I went with it. For the longest time I couldn't figure out how to draw him until recently, he's always given me trouble.

What is your favorite fact about your OC?

That he's so tolerable. Even with the worst bullshit thrown at him he'll just take a breathe and find a way around it. Also that he is the King of resting bitch face.
