sometimes i'm reminded of the fact that the interview process for my job is like........so easy compared to literally any other job ever and i'm like "why is it like this"
(because there's a global shortage.....but y'know)
other vet techs weigh in (i've had one singular traditional interview working in vet med and it was about 6 minutes long)
The manager dragged me and several coworkers to a city council meeting after work the other day, because there was some addendum being proposed that impacts the new building we'll be moving the clinic into that's still finishing construction. As someone with knee and hip issues, the seats, despite their ample padding, were actual torture. I suspect this is an intentional design choice to discourage people (especially more obnoxious strains of Karen) from attending. I can appreciate the diabolical cunning. If I should have to attend another meeting at some point I shall bring a pillow to even things out and keep my SI joint happy.
I did have the forethought to bring my water bottle and a consolation snack. I'm not sure if food was actually allowed in those meetings, so I took very sneaky bites of my Milky Way. No one said anything, so I'll take it as a win.
The meeting itself was surprisingly...not boring? Then again I was in writer mode, noting all the weird city ordinances about mandated distances between residential property lines and commercial buildings and dumpsters. And the nitpicking of the wording in the contract to maintain proper culpability if someone deviates from the approved building plan. And fire ordinances regarding how far apart commercial buildings must be which makes total sense from the standpoint of limiting spread if a fire breaks out. The whole thing was a little fascinating. Must be maddening to work with though.
