Primal: Wraith Edition | If the previous game was obscure, then this one is equally so. An alternate cover for a PS2 game from donkey years ago. Primal is a video game my brother introduced me to when i was a little boy. It is one of the few important factors that sparked my ability and drive to be a creative person. Because of this, it holds a very special place in my heart forever and always. #videogames #games #gaming #gamers #vgboxart #boxart #coverartwork #art #artwork #digitalart #femaleprotagonist #demon #gargoyle #playstation #playstation2 #ps2 #shapeshifter #graphicdesign #graphicdesigner #purple https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo8xdMVHUpn/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=3beyzh2nkmw

Mass Effect 2 Custom Box Art

So, this box was something I wanted to do for no real reason, I figured since I was waiting for my Z.O.E box to finish up in the competition, I would try my hand at making another box. Anyway I received the Original Japanese OVA on VHS from a friend before he moved away, and since I’d done a Mech box before I figured I would do another. Now as you may or may not know, the OVA was created by the same people as Bubblegum Crisis, and so the Mech designs are unique and realistic. (At least in terms of probability in current times, as this was originally released in 1987.) Now I scanned the VHS slip cover for use on this case, but I only ended up using the cover and spine. The image came out as clear as I thought it would, but due to the large image size I get from scanning in general, there were a lot of pixilated portions to deal with. So, I took a crack at re-touching the image in PS, and honestly I think it came out looking really nice and clean. I wanted to use the official Japanese logo for the cover, but when I tried to render it out, it got really messed up, so I figured I’d try and make one that was as close to the original as I could. After a while I came across the perfect font for the Logo (“Phantom Stencil”), after that I got to work and was able to render out the O from the original Logo without messing it up too much. Now, much like my Z.O.E box I went for a dual disc “special edition” approach, but originally the idea of ’including’ the OVA in the game came from Megaman Maverik Hunter X, where after beating the game you unlocked a special prequel movie.
