The theme for July was ‘Old Technology’! My immediate thought was to try something nostalgic. Dip into tech from my childhood, and mine had plenty of videos I had to record stuff off the telly.
Wanting a change from realistic colours, I took inspiration from Harald Austad’s videos looking at colours of different generations. In true 90s spirit, I went straight for the teal & purple + neon combo. ‘Already had the most perfectly proportioned canvas to sell the look. At first, I wished I had deeper-edged, so I could paint the sides. But I wasn’t able to buy one that would arrive on time.
Sticking with the purple & teal, I turned a wooden egg into a Tamagotchi. I never owned one myself, but I remember when they were everywhere. It was so fun to draw the screen details on this. Even better now I’ve started finishing them with top-coat nail varnish.
