You mentioned in a previous post how you took issue with some of the canonical birth years for the Horn and Antilles children. May I ask which dates you think work better for each child?
Oh Yes! I have mentioned this. I feel very passionate about timelines and character ages and a lot of the official years that were put out contradict things in Union, which bugs me! Generally I go with;
Valin- 13ABY as in canon
Syal- 14ABY to match up with her being about the same size as Valin in Union, but also the fact that Wedge and Iella didn't get married until 13ABY
Myri- 18 or 19ABY, I think this is more or less canon as Wookiepedia cites her being one in union as their only source and Myri is never stated to be one, she's definitely 6 months or older I'd say, but that could reasonably put her YOB as earlier the same year as well. Either way, she was a baby in Union, her birth year is somewhere around there!
Jysella- 24 ish ABY. Even the original preview of Omen puts Jysella at about 10 years younger than Valin, and her lack of speaking lines in NJO definitely leans towards her being a baby and toddler in the series IMO. Her being much younger than Valin is also implied in I, Jedi. Her not being present in Union is the biggest thing for this, it would make no sense for her not to be there if she had been born already. Sure she was stated in Dark tide to have been raised more at the jedi Praxeum then Valin but this doesn't really make sense either if her and Valin are only a few years apart, it makes more sense if she was born after Corran became more involved with the jedi than the republic to me
OKAY timeline of publication and Valin, Syal, Myri and Jysella's ages in pre LOTF/FOTJ stuff, for me to be able to revisit and for anyone else who wants this for some reason
Nov 1997- Specter of the Past (19ABY) by Timothy Zahn- First appearance of Valin Horn (Junior) 19ABY
May 1998- I, Jedi (11ABY) by Michael A Stackpole, another Valin refrence AND the first refrence to Mirax and Corran having another child, even here they are implied to have a larger age gap
August 1999- Starfighters of Adumar (13ABY) by Aaron Allston, Wedge and Iella get together and are engaged by the end of the book. They are strongly implied to have sex in this book and neither were expecting to do so before hand so take from that what you will in terms of protection that may have been used
November 1999-February 2000- Union(19ABY) by Michael A Stackpole and Robert Teranishi, Syal and Myri are introduced in this comic, and Valin once again appears. Syal and Valin appear to be close in age, being about the same height with Syal being a tiny bit taller, Myri is a baby. Not only is Jysella NOT present at the wedding but Valin specifically states not having a little sister. Iella also states that her and Wedge had a small wedding so do with that what you will in terms of what protection may have been used on Adumar
February 2000- NJO: Dark Tide I: Onslaught (25ABY) by Michael A Stackpole Jysella's first named mention, she has no spoken lines here or at any point in the series including when she actually appears later. Valin is in this book as well, he's 11 here which would put his YOB around 13 or 14 ABY depending on months
March 2002- NJO: Enemy Lines I: Rebel Dream (27ABY) by Aaron Allston: Syal and Myri appear again, they are both described as under ten contrary to Syal's past appearance, although in line with Myri's. Also Iella briefly ditches her kids on an active military base which isn't IMPORTANT it's just funny.
