If I control Vicious Shadows and I sacrifice a token creature to Ashnod's Altar, does Vicious Shadows trigger?
Yes.
When a token dies, it goes to the graveyard the same as non-token creatures. It will cease to exist the next time state-based actions are checked, but it’s still in the graveyard for that brief moment.
