Winter Solstice
Snowfall
(Ooc// this is the interactive part)
The air is more frigid than the years without proper spring. Early snow drifts down from the overcast sky. Victor stares out at it. He can't recall if the cold is seeping into him, or coming from him. Typically, it matters. Keeping emotions in check around the changing seasons is important.
His phone buzzes. Sighing, he pulls it out to read over the message. His stomach churns. Closing the instructions he was sent, he quickly checks for other messages. A distraction. Something to shift his mind elsewhere. His own way of trying to settle the bile clawing up his throat.
"You look good," Folia's familiar voice shatters the silence. Victor nearly drops his phone. "Did I sneak up on you?"
"I was lost in thought," the winter sprite shoves his phone into a pouch. His metal belt jingles with the movement.
Folia hums as she steps next to him. Her gaze follows his out to the bustling beyond them. "If needed, I can wait for your guests."
"How generous. I would rather wait for them myself, if possible."
A whisper of a chuckle leaves the autumn sprite. "We can wait together. Shirley asked me to meet with Vern's guests... since he's not answering his phone."
Victor offers a well practiced grin, "knowing him, he got stuck in his personal weighted blanket."
"You mean Mountain Moon? Most likely. Though, I thought they would be here early... Vern mentioned an appointment.."
"Did he?" Victor turns his gaze back to the landscape. Frost is building on the colorful leaves.
"Yes... you did have the correct time on the invites, yes? You and I might have to start the dance soon with how the weather is.."
Rolling his eyes, the winter sprite pulls up a photo and shows it to Folia. It's of a carefully written invitation. Elegant cursive done with the flourish of calligraphy. The invitation details cracking the seal in the corner of the paper at the designated time, while in front of a mirror or door.
"It should turn any mirror, or door, into a portal for them."
Folia looks it over in interest. "That looks like an ancient winter sprite spell..."
She earns a hum of confirmation from Victor. They can both hear the hum of string instruments in the distance. The din of the town is lively despite the hour. Closing his eyes, Victor can hear the warming mirth filling the frigid air. Maybe this year will be different...
A flicker of rippling light behind them makes the two sprites turn to find their guest(s).
Ooc// so... I meant to start this on like... Sunday but... oops? Am I sort of jumping in the deep end with this one? A bit. Will we find out what happened to Vern? Eventually...
Victor is definitely feeling a bit out of things~ i wonder what's on his mind? (I mean.. I know, but Folia is wondering too)
ANYWAY!! Pick your beans and throw them through a portal!
