Apparition was, in Nadya’s opinion, the least impressive thing a witch or wizard could do. Her distaste for the skill had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that she wasn’t very good at apparating and everything to do with the wretched class itself. Showing up after dinner twice a week just to try futilely to achieve a few feet of distance was a drain on her pleasant demeanor. But her parents had insisted and Nadya was hard-pressed to deny them anything, so here she was. Today’s practice, atleast, was livened up by Professor Mawlright’s breathy screech as someone splinched themselves again. Why they’d found such a squeamish woman to coach Apparition was a real mystery-- Mawlright almost fainted if anyone got so much as a hangnail. And if the scrambling and profuse bleeding was to be any indication, this boy must have severed a limb. “Miss Petrov, if you would be so kind as to accompany Prince to the Hospital Wing?” Her shoulders lifted, not sure if she cared enough either way. Victor Prince was a name Nadya recognized and, she figured, well-established in his position as the least abhorrent of the trio he ran with. Atleast it wasn’t Parrish.

The year’s first Hogsmeade weekend was upon them, and Noah wanted none of it. The way he figured, the moment everyone thirteen and older left Hogwarts’ grounds for the town, they were no longer his concern. He had no burning desire to be surrounded by classmates, and was well-prepared enough for the school year that he didn’t need any extra supplies yet. The way Noah saw it, the social event of the year was something he could easily skip if it meant he could bask in the relative silence. Based on the fact that so many students’ first visit, Noah was entirely correct in the assumption that Gryffindor’s common room would be mostly empty by the time he returned from his hour-long stint in the library after breakfast. The first and second years tended to avoid him because he was The Authority even in jeans and a sweatshirt with no prefects’ badge in sight. Which worked out fine so long as no one caught anything on fire or broke any bones. There was, however, one roommate remaining in his dormitory when Noah edged his way in. Victor, the one he’d done his best to reserve judgement on thus far. “Hello,” he greeted off-handedly, hoping Victor was on his way out.

“I am not crying ok” he says, lying, clearly crying because a dog gave him her paw unprompted “I got something in my eyes ok” he repeats, stubborn, to the person, he hasn’t even seen properly, denying the tears of joy in his eyes because a dog liked him back, and with no embarrassment whatsoever.
Victor was a very emotional dude and he liked it that way, but still, he felt a little ridiculous for crying for feeling touched by the dog.
