Myth Loki / Sigyn - Stitches (closed starter)
It was nothing new. A bet gone wrong. He was sure would win. There was no way the Dwarves could make something better than the gifts they had already made the Aesir, golden hair, a boat you could fold up into a purse and a spear that never missed its aim. The Dwarves had challenged him so what was he meant to do? Give in? No, he couldn’t do that. The Aesir would surely find out and he would never hear the end of it, they were just waiting for him to slip up, to lose, to fail.
Loki had tried everything, he shape shifted into a fly to annoy them, to put them off, to make them fail so Loki could win the bet. He shape shifted into a bee and stung one of them just above the eye but they didn’t even stop, they just wiped the blood away and carried on.
Well, the Dwarves only went and made a golden boar for his giant wolf son Freyr, A ring for Odin that produced more rings and to top it all off they only went and made the one and only Thor’s bloody hammer Mjöllnir. The Hammer was short on the handle due to Loki’s tricks but this was getting far too close for comfort.
The Dwarves were not to be underestimated. The name may suggest images of happy little men going about their jolly little ways but that was certainly not the case. They were a proud people or in Loki’s words they were “fierce, stubborn, talented little fuckers”.
Together with the freshly made items Loki and the Dawlves travelled to Asgard, the Aesir would be the judge of who had won the bet. Of course the Aesir were showered with wonderful gifts, so shallow, so unbiased. Then there was Loki. He stood before them, tall, thin and very handsome. His long fire red, curly hair flowing down his back and over the animal fur he wore around his shoulders. His clothes were made from brown leather and green suede.
His boots were laced up to his knees and made a click on the floor when he walked. He moved his body like a dancer and his jewellery rattled as he talked and gestured wildly with his hands. It wasn’t just his looks that made him attractive, he used his words carefully, he could cut through someone without the use of his blade. The other Aesir were big and strong but Loki looked very slight next to them but still he was the one who caused the most trouble.
He crossed his arms over his chest and rolled his eyes with his head back as the Aesir marvelled over their gifts. It was stacked against him. Why did he have to bet his own head, why not an arm, or even a finger he could live happily without a finger but his head? They decided that Loki had lost. They had outdone themselves.
“Well if your going to do then just do it” he sighed defiantly leaving a shocked silence in the great hall of Asgard “You heard me” he narrowed his eyes at the Dwarves and the Aesir, he was no cowered. He knelt down on the floor and flicked his wild hair to the side and looked up at them with his bright green eyes. “Just one question....” he sat up a little and sat on his heels “how can you take my head without taking my neck” he planted the seed for them to question what they were doing. Surely if they cut off his head his death would be quick and painless but he knew he could talk himself out of it.
The Dwarfs and Aesir argued between them on how they could take his head without his neck and before he knew it they had come to an agreement. They would leave his head alone. Loki stood up and smirked boldly as dusted off his clothes and held his head high. He would be going home that night alive, he got to live another day. No one could get past him, all these gods and powerful beings were no match to his powerful words.
He was ready to bow out and get the hell out of there but before he could he heard them talk more. He frowned deeply and gulped as the Dwarlves revealed that they knew that Loki had been the fly and the bee that tried to put them off. Loki put his hands up and laughed nervously, surely they could see the funny side to all this. “Oh, come on” he extended his arms theatrically, his fingers extending and showing off his long black nails that resembled claws.
He heard what they wanted to do. His punishment. He jumped back and frowned deeply as he felt fear run through him. This was cruel, this was unreasonable. This was madness. As he jumped back and tried to leave his arms were held by the Aesir and the Dwarfs walked towards him with the awl they used to punch holes into leather.
“This is madness, you’ve all gone completely mad” he spat out as he struggled against the grips to his arms “you cant sew my lips shut, for norns sakes, just take my bloody head” he growled and thrashed trying to break free.
