Menherix: A gender reflective of, or related to, the menhera aesthetic and its themes. This gender projects a cute and soft image but is tainted* by sickness and sadness which is felt internally and may show itself externally upon further examination. The perception of this gender (by self or others) may be affected by one’s mental illness; there may be internal confusion, discomfort, or uncertainty due to neurodivergency. Due to the nature of the menhera aesthetic being based on mental ilness, this gender is exclusive to neurodivergent folk and is considered a neurogender. It can also be considered an aesthetigender.  *this is a personal feeling a menherix has about their gender, not an insinuation that anyone who is mentally ill is “tainted”.

Red Cross: medical imagery is a major aspect of menhera, it felt appropriate.

Top Stripes: colors represent the cuteness and softness of a menherix.

Bottom Stripes: colors represent the affects of illness on one’s identity.

New Term!

Bloomgender: A fluctuating gender that is linked to flowers in some way. Over time, it “blooms” with clear and intense feelings of gender, and “wilts” becoming weaker and nearly genderless. It can bloom into any other gender(s).

The flag is based on the flower alstroemeria.

I actually coined and designed this flag over a year ago, but I’m only posting it now because... well, I dunno! I have no excuse! It’s not bad for an old design, though, IMO.

videgender is another word for aesthetigender. i just think it sounds cooler so i use it instead lmao

Aesthetigender, Aesthetgender, Aesthetegender, or Videgender: A gender experience that is derived from, or the embodiment of, an aesthetic. Also acts as an umbrella term. There are many genders under this umbrella, and videgenders are very personalised (especially considering not everyone envisions a particular aesthetic the same way).

Gender piracy

my icon is inspired by an idea i’ve seen lots of lil references to scattered about the internet. ‘gender pirate’ is a term that gets mentioned alongside genderqueer sometimes, with hints of a definition here and there. here’s my attempt at stringing it all together into a fuller definition!

if going ‘stealth’ is for ninjas, pirates are the exact opposite. they are a flavor of genderqueer which is about being aggressively, loudly, visibly queer. gender pirates take what they like from the existing ideas of gender around them and weave it into something flashy and dangerous. they try to disrupt the average person’s ideas of gender normalcy by appearing charming and menacing, multifaceted and single-minded. gender piracy is as much an action as it is a presentation as it is an identity. it is both hyper performative and incredibly authentic. these people are the the foppish highwaymen, the dapper gangsters, the daring corsairs. you don’t have to incorporate a nautical aesthetic to be a gender pirate, but it helps!

i consider myself a gender pirate because being visibly gender-nonconforming is very important to my sense of self. i don’t care about being read as a man or a woman, but i do care about people thinking i’m cis - the thought of that makes me really dysphoric!

and yes, i do relate heavily to the nautical aesthetic ;) but that part is not mandatory! the aesthetic associated with this label (if you want to associate any aesthetic with it at all!) is inspired by all kinds of swashbucklers.
