N:Favorite protagonist?

Hmmmm this is a hard one. If you allow me to be selfish, I stand behind my Renegade!Shepard, but that's because it is the closest I could be from playing as a more straight forward version of me.

Answering seriously, I'd go with Ryudo from Grandia 2. The amount of growth this guy goes through during his (and Elena's) quest is astounding.

O:Favorite antagonist?

Jon Irenicus from Baldur's Gate 2 takes the trophy forever, nobody can ever take this away from him and I won't even explain why, go play the game I swear to god.

R:Most underrated game?

Radiata Stories. Everyone on earth should've played Radiata Stories at least once and I will explain why under the cut because I have so many feelings for this game and you don't even understand how much I love this goddamn thing.

(Also, some spoilers in there but nothing life threatening)

So this game starts with a main character boy, son of this knight dude, who dreams to be a knight just like his dear old dad. So for that to happen, our dumb MC goes to take part of this knight crowning tournament thinking he is big shit and you're thrown into battle without a single change of knowing how the battle system works. Of course, you end up getting your ass handed back to you by this blond girl who spent her entire life training to become a knight.

But here is the thing: even though you lose, they make you into a knight anyway because of your name. That is the best representation of social privilege I have ever seen.

That is freaking clever.

More clever than that, while the story progresses, our dumb MC starts growing up: he realizes he doesn't know jack shit about the world, and slowly he learns. You warm up to him, you explore the world with him. You learn with him. You learn the Knights are not what he thought they were, you learn things are not what they usually seem, and it has very sweet small social commentaries hidden everywhere.

At some point in the story, you find out about his past, about how this other Knight killed his father and you find him and you fight him.

And then you lose.

(but no worries, it's not game over, there's a check point that heals you beside the battle arena, so you heal and you fight him again)

And then you lose.

But you keep trying and trying because while you heal and doesn't give the fuck up, the Knight doesn't, and it is by finally defeating him (and showing how determined our main character really is, and how much he has grown), you finally are able to put things behind you, to redeem both of you and finally understand what happened and why.

BUT WHO SAID THIS GAME IS OVER WHEN THIS SHIT GOES DOWN?

So at some point in time your companion (the lovely badass who kicked your ass in the tournament) disappears and the knights start killing these dragons that pretty much are the spirit of nature or some such thing.

So one day your main character comes back home and the companion is there and she explains everything to you:

The Knights are killing nature. You can stay by their side if you want and destroy all things, OR you can go with her and join with the monsters and fairies and whatevers and fight off the Knights.

And this: this is where the game splits in two.

You can make that choice.

You can go with her and fight the knights.

And you can stay with the Knights and kill the dragons.

That is fucking bonkers.

Also, have I mentioned the main city has about 300 unique characters and they are all recruitable for your party depending on timing and circumstances?

Yeah.

Fucking find a PS2 emulator and go play Radiata Stories.

This questions is hella hard, holy crap. It's a fight between the Breathe of Fire series and the Baldur's Gate series, both extremely competent and hella awesome in their own different ways.

V:First game you remember playing?

As a matter of fact, that would be Duke Nuken 3D, when I was about 8 or 9. My older brother thought it would be fun to teach me to kill monsters with ridiculously sized guns on godmode, and hey! He was right.
