Tip #110. USE AN EXTENSION POLE TO GET A BIRD’S-EYE VIEW. There are lots of ways to get a high-angle bird’s-eye shot, for example, shooting from an upper-story window or from a ladder (be careful). These days many filmmakers use drones, and that’s what we thought @SimonHelbling did to get this shot for his prize-winning drama “For the Sea Which Is A Shiny Desert.” But we were wrong. Helbing’s cinematographer Andi Meyer took the shot using a GoPro attached to an extension pole, a handy device that costs about $30. “For the Sea Which Is a Shiny Desert” has been chosen as a Mobile Movie of the Week by the editors of MobileMovieMaking Magazine.
