It wasn’t rare that Vienna and her brother were called for family meetings, especially since ever since they had hit eighteen, their parents had started including them in more of the kingdom’s business. However, something about today already seemed different the moment Vienna had stepped into their parents throne room. She stood next to her brother, her attention on their parents as the room grew quiet and they began to speak. She could tell their attention was mostly on Oscar today, so her gaze would occasionally flicker over to him as they spoke. That was until the words came out: ‘You will be marrying the princess to one of our partnering kingdoms, she will be here soon so you can meet her.’ After that, their parents stated they had other business to attend to and would be back when she arrived.
Once their parents had left the room, Vienna turned to her brother. She knew marrying kids off was more common than she’d like to believe, but she didn’t think their parents would actually do it. “Oscar, do you think they’re actually serious? Surely not.” Vienna hated the fact her brother was being married off to some random girl from another country, it made no sense to her and she didn’t want to see him unhappy.
