The Architecture of Almost

We have a language made of laughter and husband jokes a clever way to play house without ever having to sign the deed. You use them like a shield, a way to say the right thing under the safety of a punchline. I laugh along because it’s the only way to keep the glass wall from shattering.

You are a Pilot, forever chasing the horizon, calculating the next mission as if the ground is just a place to refuel. You think you’re a hero in the sky, but you’re a ghost at the table. You see the work of my hands and call it awesome, missing the fact that every bead is a prayer for you to finally look down and see the peace you’re standing on.

I’m done holding my breath in the silence. I’m weaving it here instead.

It was interesting to see how Stampede has changed over the last year. From ‘open for summer’ to ‘no restrictions’ it was a very different vibe this year. I’m usually there on opening day, and this year felt like it used to be. People were excited, having fun, enjoying all the random food, laughing and filling the rides. Even the BMO Centre was full of some really interesting and unique vendors again (instead of the usual boats and RVs it’s been in recent years).
