As the wiki says, "The Vigilante seems to be familiar with guns as he is demonstrating proper firearm safety (the rifle is on safe and his finger is off the trigger) in his sprites."
It's easy to assume he's just into guns, but my headcanon is that he had to do the compulsory military service when he was young - and hasn't cut his hair short since.
I WROTE A 2 PAGE FILE OF HEADCANONS ABOUT THEM UNDER THE CUT ⬇️⬇️
This is a mix of canon and headcanons, nothing I wrote here is law, so feel free to suggest other things/corrections. I also wrote this in another language and translated as well as I could, both using google translate and my knowledge, so please point any grammatical errors~
~ A Wireface "brief" description ~
Wireface is a young, optimistic, outgoing, and extroverted young man, despite he clearly lost a lot. He tries to communicate, even though his knowledge of the language makes it almost impossible. He's very emotional and empathetic, and always tries to remain chill. He has great patience and is willing to find effective ways to communicate. He's definitely in his twenties, probably 25 or 26. He cares deeply about his appearance: we see it in his tightly curled hair, his manicured nails, and his earring; yet, due to the things happened in the past days, his face always has an expression that reveals all the trauma he's been through.
He's an homosexual guy; he had come to Russia to visit a "dear friend," (probably his lover). The problem is that now, almost certainly, his lover is dead, and Wireface can't even talk about it openly due to the stigma (hence, his mouth sewn shut). Despite his grief, he does everything he can to stay alive and return home, as he would be the only one to remember his lover. Being from Georgia, he may have grown up in an Orthodox family but later became an atheist after never receiving support from his "fellow Christians" regarding his homosexuality. Despite his atheism, he may still be a very spiritual person and a believer in "something greater," even though he places most of his trust in himself.
~ Same for Vigilante ~
On the other hand, the Vigilante is an older man - we know he's the younger brother of the protagonist's neighbor, who has a young daughter. Assuming he had the child at 35, and that the child is now 8, the Vigilante would be just under 43 but certainly over 38. He clearly has a dad bod and doesn't take much care of his appearance. He looks older than he is, probably due to his habits (smoking, drinking, maybe?). He doesn't smell very nice, partly because of his lifestyle and partly because of his job.
He's a solitary man; his mental health had been in free fall long before the calamity, likely due to self-induced paranoia that only became apparent after the visitors arrived. His reason for living became protecting his family: his brother, his wife, and his daughter. Unfortunately, due to an accident involving some visitors, the Vigilante loses everyone, but he's certain his niece is alive somewhere; from that moment on, his goal is to find the child and eliminate as many visitors as possible, though he soon loses hope of even finding his niece.
Initially, he's pro-FEMA; after all, they have the same goal; however, after a couple of nights, he completely loses faith in them because they don't seem to have a clue what they're doing. He often talks about cold-bloodedly killing a couple because the wife had all the symptoms and the husband was defending her, then clearing the house of visitors all by himself while the children ran off to safety. Here, he doesn't realize he's left behind orphan children and potentially condemned them to death, despite his noble intentions. He seems to rely too much on his weapon, believing he's in control simply because he has a rifle, which isn't a good thing in the hands of someone so paranoid and impulsive.
In Russia, the most common religion is Orthodox: it's possible that the Vigilante was raised Orthodox but later admitted to being an atheist, though it's not hard to imagine him praying in his darkest moments and still following some doctrines while ignoring others.
~ Their dynamic ~
Theirs is a relationship full of differences. One has a wounded but hopeful heart, while the other doesn't know if he has one, but if he did, it would brokenand resigned. It's easy to say that opposites attract, but it's equally easy for the situation to become extremely toxic.
In any case, the two might initially feel disgusted by each other: Vigilante is likely homophobic, and in any case suspects Wireface of being a visitor; Wireface, however, while disgusted by Vigilante's methods, would perfectly understand the motive: fear, trauma, grief. These are things that unfortunately unite them. To gain his trust, Wireface, not knowing the man's language (who initially has no interest in being understood), would perform courtesy for him (finding supplies, helping him, and making his job less stressful). Over time, Wireface would also offer him emotional support by offering to listen to him, and so Vigilante would begin to make himself understood: he would begin to emphasize certain words and use gestures, all to allow Wireface not only to understand him but also to begin speaking the language, which would be useful if they ever separate.
They would reach a point where Vigilante would finally confess his trauma and insecurities, and Wireface would feel so comfortable that he would confess not only his grief but also his sexuality. Vigilante would appear closed off at first, but would then realize that first, the boy had made a huge effort to trust him, given that the last time he did so, it left him with a permanent wound on his lips; second, Wireface had never judged him: he wouldn't openly agree with him, but he would begin to have a protective instinct towards Wireface, which he would increasingly express. Gradually, even as he loses hope in finding his granddaughter, he will find a new purpose in bringing Wireface home, even if he remains obsessed with the destruction of the visitors. On the other hand, Wireface worries about Vigilante's survival, reminding him to eat or rest.
Wireface could teach Vigilante to be more open-minded and think logically rather than rely solely on his instincts, while Vigilante would teach him to be more cautious.
They both need to survive for the sake of someone else, even if that person is no longer with us: this could bring them together.
...
So far, their relationship might seem like a simple friendship to some, a father-son relationship to others. For those who think these two might actually love each other as a couple, I wrote this:
If they ever decide to explore their feelings for each other, they will face numerous obstacles: age, religion, country of origin, physical appearance, and mentality. They probably wouldn't ever interacted with each other if it wasn't for the calamity.
They'd probably skip a lot of steps and end up in bed together before even admitting they care about each other: it's not only lust, but rather a need for comfort in each other's warmth and to release tension. Vigilante would be very confused at first, wouldn't immediately accept his attraction to a man, and might even be aggressive at times. Wireface is physically attracted to Vigilante, but even more so by the fact that any sexual acts with him would be a link to his previous life, when everything was fine and he felt loved. He's probably the one to initiate, especially since Vigilante would never dare initiate something like that without being "provoked" first - for him, kissing is off limits except when they're both very "into it." Wireface would always be the "bottom," but in reality, he's the one guiding Vigilante, giving him the illusion of control he craves.
Vigilante would be tense most of the time, while Wireface would do his best to make him feel comfortable.
Vigilante pretends not to be the aftercare type, but in reality, he's the first one to need it. He'd try to get up right after finishing, out of embarrassment, with the excuse of having to keep watch for visitors, but Wireface, after a couple of times, would manage to convince him to stay in bed with him for a while. They wouldn't give too much "cute" cuddles (also because otherwise Vigilante would get up and leave), but they'd be more small gestures, like just laying next to each other.

Yes, I spent hours of my life to write this - tell me what you think about them guys I NEED TO WRITE A FANFICTION ABOUT THEM BUT ALL I HAVE IN MIND ARE HEADCANONS
