I'm a newbie fanfic writer who's interested in writing Morgue Files fanfic but I struggle with writing/characterising Jeff Mason properly

Do you have any general tips on how to write him?

hello!! i suck at like organizing this shit but here’s some tips :)

-do research on ASPD! this is my biggest one considering he has it and it’s a big part of his character. he can’t feel embarrassment or shame, emotionally detached, and he’s calculated, but impulsive.

-We all know he’s incredibly irritable and takes little things as personal (ie. scene in the hospital after he self harmed). jeff gets annoyed or angry at the littlest things, especially because he doesn’t have the emotional breaks to stop it.

-anger is his default. jeff is definitely not the type to be skipping around being happy at any point in his life.

-When he’s ‘calm’ he’s cold and blunt. i’ve noticed he isn’t necessarily manipulative (although he could be). jeff is brutally honest and he doesn’t care to hide how he feels.

-he feels constantly smothered by care, so if anyone were to try and ‘care’ for him more, he would see it as a threat rather than a genuine attempt to help.

-jeff knows something is wrong with him and he embraces it now. he used to try to be normal but it’s gotten to the point where he can’t anymore. whether it’s because he’s a moody teenager now or because it just boiled over, he just can’t anymore.

-i’ve noticed jeff masks around his parents or brother. he’s not as monotone or blunt especially in the beginning of the episode before his mental health declined. i wouldn’t be surprised if his parents put pressure on him ever since he was a kid. it could’ve definitely internalized.

-the thing he wants most is control. he wants to feel like he can do whatever he wants. that mixed with his aspd is what causes him to act out violently, whether it be hurting people or animals.
