Jeyra comes from a race of horses that live in a country called Troskos. He and his parents moved to Sand in search of work and to experience a more civilized life. However, it didn't work out very well - they didn't like anything about it. They stayed for one reason: Jeyra became a forester. His duties included not so much keeping the forests remain in peace, but maintaining friendly relations with the little kingdom Kel'pe. He coped with this better than previous foresters due to his strong connection with nature and… the fact that the queen was into him.
He settled in Sand, married Vincenta, then Sarah was born, and eventually Guypril came under his wing. Jeyra's parents went back to Troskos, and he stayed here with his family.
Taggers are a very friendly family, open with each other. Jeyra is a gentle giant daddy, Vince is responsible one, she loves to share her knowledge about everyday life with Guypril, who absorbs any information like a sponge. Sarah is more brash and extroverted than her family, but generous and honest (sometimes even too much). Despite the fact that Guypril is not related to the Taggers by blood and even refuses to bear their last name, he answers to "son" and calls Sarah "sister". He is the center of the family, everyone's pride.
Troskos horses are different from ordinary ones: they are much closer to nature, their physical qualities are stronger than spiritual/magical ones. They all associate themselves with some more primitive animal, for example Jeyra with a tiger, Sarah with a doe, Jeyra's mother Illyvon was a panther, and his father Tsiriz was a lynx. They are also all noted for their colossal growth (the physiques vary though). They are a stoic kin, a bit wild and close-minded, but at the same time kind to the weak and very devoted to those they love.
