La Perdita Generacio - Sub Fortepiano en Kiev'
Lyrics:
Mensogis mi al mi mem (I lied to mysefl) Nur iom por forigi la timon (Just a little to get rid of the fear) Por interhoma konem’ (To be sociable) Por ekforgesi la limojn (To begin to get rid of the limits)
Do, ni kuŝiĝis sur plank’ (So, we lay on a plank) Sub fortepiano en Kiev’ (Under a piano in Kiev) Eble logitaj al danc’ (Maybe lured to a dance) Certe ĝuigaj de l’ tie’ (Certainly, we enjoyed that place)
Repensis mi pri ŝakludad’ (I thought again about a game of chess) Kiel komuna lingvo ŝajnis (How a common language seemed) Antaŭesperanta serenad’ (A pre-Esperanto seranade) Kaj mi malvenkis kaj mi gajnis (And I lost and I won) Kaj mi malvenkis kaj mi gajnis (And I lost and I won) Kaj mi malvenkis kaj mi gajnis (And I lost and I won)
Gardisto ekkriis: “For! (A guard shouted "Away!) La respektindajn klientojn vi ĝenas! (You bother the respectable clients!) Kantu en silenta ĥor’” (Sing in a silent hour") Gardismo, kion ĝi tenas? (Guardism, what does it hold?)*
Ja, komuna malamik’ (Truly, a common enemy) Ofte kunigas homgrupon (Often causes a group to form) Okazis ankaŭ al ni (It happened also to us) Ĉielarkkolora pactrupo (A group of peace in every kind of colour)
Eble ekĉesis en ni (Maybe the end started in us) Tiam la malvarman militon (Then the cold war) Sur stranga ŝipo de ebri’ (On a strange ship of drunkenness) Pagantaj kies profiton? (Payed, but who profits?) Pagantaj kies profiton? (Payed, but who profits?) Pagantaj kies profiton? (Payed, but who profits?)
Ĉu ni mensogis ĉiuj kvar (Haven't we all four lied) Ke ni ne devus disiĝi (That we should not have to be scattered) Sub mezeŭropa stelar’ (Beneath middle-European constellations) La fremduleco faliĝis (The foreignness falls)
Eble falis kun ĝi (Maybe we fell with it) La mondo kiun ni komprenas (The world which we understand) Post la muroj nur ekzistas ni (Beyond the wall only we exist) Ĉu karesos ni kio alvenas? (Will we touch what comes?) Ĉu karesos ni kio alvenas? (Will we touch what comes?) Karesos ni kio alvenas…. (We will touch what comes)
Notes: Let me be the first to say that LPG write some confusing stuff, but they sound nice. A lot of this doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but it's what it says. I just noticed that Tumblr has three of their songs and I hadn't done any of them, so I'll do them over the next few days. I think the other two should make more sense. LPG uses unusual syntax a lot in this song, most of which I moved back around to be easily understood in English. The line "Por interhoma konem'" is a bit of a mystery to me. It literally means something like "For interpersonal tendencies," but the part-of-speech identifying suffix has been removed to fit meter and it's hard to tell. "Guardismo kiun ĝi tenas" is a pun on the fact that the word for guard is "Guardisto" means "guard" (literally "one who guards") but the "-isto" suffix is also used to indicate a follower of a religion (like in English with "Buddhist"). The speaker is asking what tenets "guardism" holds. I have no idea what the meaning behind a lot of this is, so I'm not going to conjecture further unless asked.
CREDITS! La Perdita Generacio for writing the song. Vinilkosmo Muzaiko Lernu! Kantaro
