What do you do for a living and how do you incorporate your love for fashion?
I am currently a graphic designer for Kate Spade New York. I would never describe my style as “kate spade” per say BUT the lifestyle, i believe I do embody. The company itself, has evolved so much into a lifestyle brand over the years and not just the preppy handbag/clothing line that it used to be when I was younger. I love to incorporate my love for fashion and on trend, yet classic sense of style into what I design for them and well as my everyday life – from décor in my apartment to what I wear on a daily basis.
Ok, so why did you decide to go on Bachelor and/or BIP, and what was the process like?
Why not? For the Bachelor - at the time I was working in Westchester, NY for a lifestyle brand doing graphic design for their Marketing Department. I had the city itch!!! As antsy as I was, living alone in Greenwich, CT as a single 24 year old, I really wanted to make the transition to NYC or another city- ANY city for that matter. I was randomly approached by a Bachelor casting director in March and went with it. I didn’t really think I was going to be accepted and within months I was packed for a possible 3 month journey “to find love” with Ben Higgins. Fast forward, it was an emotional rollercoaster, being sent home that first night (in PAJAMAS needless to say as I am interviewing for this fashion blog) But I felt so comfortable and, most importantly, was myself (something I strongly live by). I am a casual and laid back, yet confident young woman and I wanted to show that to Ben. I felt that I could do that by not stepping out of that limo is the absolutely gorgeous gown Herve gown I had picked out weeks prior. People ask me all the time, if I would have stayed if I had worn a dress…I don’t know and honestly may never know. But again this is something I do not regret or dwell on. Look at where I am now!
Having gone to Bachelor in Paradise in the beginning of the summer as a “night one girl” or the “girl in the onesie” was such an honor. It felts so great to be invited back for a second chance! You’ll have to watch the rest of the season to find out if I do indeed find love…but what I do know is it was an unbelievable experience! I have met the most amazing people that other wise would not have come into my life and I am so beyond thankful for that. It is truly an experience I will not forget, and one that not many people get to say they have done. I stayed true to myself the entire time, and that’s what matters the most. I am so thankful for the experience and all the people I met along the way, and continue to have great relationships with to this day. For this all I am so thankful and it has led me to where I am now – so happily living the dream in NYC, working for Kate Spade New York- doing what I love.
Do you have any regrets going on the show? if so what?
ZERO REGRETS. One cannot dwell on the past. Everything happens for a reason – I am a strong believer in that.
Now we want the juicy stuff, tell us about your wildest night on BIP!
My wildest night on BIP was my double date with Vinny, Lace and Grant. It was not the classiest date in Bachelor History but it was most definitely the most fun! The producers definitely picked the most fun and outgoing couples to go on this hilarious date to Senor Frogs…(ew) for a foam party…..Needless to say I did not look as cute afterwards as I did when I got there. But it was by far one of my most memorable nights in Mexico with my favorite people.
Are you still close with many of the cast members? Would you say that you or your friends were portrayed incorrectly by the media?
I was myself the entire time I was there and that’s something I said going in - I was not going to give off a different personality or impression to anyone there. If anything I think I they could have shown more of my funny and goofy side! Especially my relationship with Vinny – it is so hilarious and we are constantly laughing and being goofy – they don’t show much of that. As well as my friendship with Lace, we are inseparable…us four (#teamvizzy & #teamgrace) in fact are always together. I do wish they show more of that.
What advice do you have for girls who want to go on the show?
My advice to absolutely anyone who asks my advice, “Be yourself.”
What was it like dressing for national TV? Tell us about fashion on BIP!
I am crazy when it comes to “getting ready”. I always freak out with what to wear and then almost always end up in the most comfortable and usually sexy/casual; “classic izzy” jeans and a tshirt. I mainly like to focus on accessorizing - good jewelry and a sick bag are kind of my thing. Personally that’s what I like to spend on, jewelry and bags, and definitely a good shoe. But with BIP – I tried to stay as simple as possible…lets be honest, I was in a bikini at all times, except for rose ceremonies. For my rose ceremonies, I chose a few of my favorite cocktail dresses, one including my FAVORITE and absolutely flattering, black jersey cotton dress from James Perse. It was so unbelievably hot there I would honestly have been happy anywhere in a bikini.
