While maintaining the sophistication and luxury of a beautifully decorated interior, this morning room was designed to suggest the refreshing breezes that flow through a seaside cottage in summer. Splashes of color abound in a spectacular understatement, from the Brunschwig & Fils 'Autumn Rose' chintz armchairs to the brightly colored pillows on the sofa.

In the bedroom, Ken Parker's untitled lithograph, which hangs over the mantel, provides an appealing contrast to a primitive American painting of an eighteenth-century gentlewoman. The contemporary-looking yellow and turquoise vases on the mantel are actually rare eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Chinese export porcelains that the owner found in London.
