One of the first literary magazines of Mexico in the 20th century, it was founded in 1921 by Jose Vansconcelos, one of the most controversial figures in the development of modern Mexico. It was advertised by the National Autonomous University as "the foundation of a great magazine."
It sought to expand the horizons of workers and peasants, stimulate the study, and industrialism.
