If the high schools in my favorite books existed I'd be a professional student.

A teen girl hiding the scars of a past relationship finds home and healing in the words of strong Black writers. A beautiful sophomore novel from a critically acclaimed author and poet that explores how words have the power to shape and uplife our world even in the midst of pain. When Darius told Angel he loved her, she believed him. But five weeks after the incident, Angel finds herself in Brooklyn, far from her family, from him, and from the California life she has known. Angel feels out of sync with her new neighborhood. At school, she can't shake the feeling everyone knows what happened--and how it was her fault. The only place that makes sense is Ms. G's class. There, Angel's classmates share their own stories of pain, joy, and fortitude. And as Angel becomes immersed in her revolutionary literature course, the words from novels like The Bluest Eye and Push speak to her and begin to heal the wounds of her past. This stunning novel weaves together prose, poems, and vignettes to tell the story of Angel, a young woman whose past was shaped by domestic violence but whose love of language and music and the gift of community grant her the chance to find herself again.

I got songs from Mary J. Blige to Heavy D, from Alicia Keys to Zo!, from Michel’le and J. Cole; the melodies run into each other like ideas, with nowhere to go but up.

Vinyl Moon Volume 101: Stay Curious, Wayfarer
Stay Curious, Brandon
Curious indeed was I. How could this man mix music freshly sung from a mountaintop with music freshly exported from something like ableton or FL Studio and create a solid vibe? Don't know, but HE DID.
I love every beat of this volume.

Vinyl Moon Volume 97: The Pond Beyond
With Strength, Brandon.
This volume required more strength to digest than I imagined it would, but by the end the pros outweighed the cons.

Is it Christmas??
In Rainbows finally came in the mail, it’s been on backorder for six months, officially one step closer to having Radioheads discography on vinyl. Got a Vinyl Moon shipment today on top of that, so it’s just a dope day for music. To top it all off my back patch finally came from an artist in Poland, that’s been a three month wait but it’s time to get sewing
And finally my Valhalla Project band came too. I hope you’re enjoying your shitty Army coffee from way up high Mr. Thomas; Til Valhalla brother.
Something to make me excited, something to make me discover, something to help me wear my heart on my sleeve and something to make me cry. It’s shaping up to be a good day.
