I think Violet would love extremely depressing movies that have a little bit of edgy or dark humor in them. A lot of indie movies, too!
Considering that Violet read a few old, existential novels in the show, I feel like she would really enjoy watching weird or absurd movies that make you question why you even watched them afterwards. I could see her liking some of Lars von Trier's films, especially!
For some reason, I think Violet would be surprisingly knowledgeable when it comes to film. Like, she's somehow seen so, so many movies, but her actual favorite ones would be like.. really weird, low-budget indie flicks that are essentially about nothing, but still leave you feeling empty inside by the end somehow. Think: Kids (1995) or Paranoid Park from Gus Van Sant...
She'd also actively seek out movies that are lesser-known and a bit unconventional.
