Accordion and Violin had finished up their usual work helping around in the Cargo Bay, not everyone could lift more than one box, hell, at best they needed two people who had enough strength to lift one of the bigger boxes and move 'em around. The Toppats were lucky, perhaps even blessed in a sense to have The Music Enforcers in the clan. Though not many of them interacted with the duo as they were seen as intimidating, but in reality, those who got close to them to the point the enforcers viewed them as family, they'd tell you that Violin and Accordion are gentle giants.
The duo were headed to the lounge for a well deserved break from work, after all, lunch time wasn't until noon and between patrolling the hallways, helping with some heavy lifting, they needed a bit of downtime together.
Accordion let out a long sigh as he walked alongside his husband, their hands intertwined as the two of them made their way to the lounge.
“Something on your mind luv?” Violin asked his partner.
Accordion rubbed his gloved thumb along his partner's hand, “Mmm, just been sensing some sort of familiar presence? Maybe it’s just Ulle.”
His partner shrugged his shoulders, “Perhaps, or it could be someone else's presence. It's very…electrifying? Full of joy and energy, I wonder-”
“Violin, we're already in the lounge dear.” Accordion smirked.
Violin blinked a few times as he noticed their surroundings, “...Oh, goodness I must've forgotten how time flies when you're always near.~”
The other music enforcer snickered as his partner kept flirting with him, they had yet to notice the woman sitting on the couch with a sketchbook and pencil in hand. She wore a lilac shadow colored sun hat with a light lilac band around the top, a white bow choker with a sapphire in the middle around her neck, turquoise earrings, a sunset purple dress with a light lilac ribbon around the abdomen area and black pumps.
Her name was Morgana Price.
An elite member of the clan who was also an amazing artist, she didn't participate in many heists but rather helped out with going over plans for future heists. She always preferred to keep to herself but was rarely seen with such interesting company, her partner Gayle.
Friends weren't out of the question but she was too shy to approach anyone, even with her magic choker on.
Morgana silently looked up from her sketchbook to spot two familiar faces she had seen before in the meeting room a few times and we'll just in general around the airship. She was great at putting names to faces especially when associating a specific trait to them.
For Accordion and Violin however she associates them with the sun and moon.
Accordion was like the sun, especially when he's angered. Raging and scorching, yet only around very few, mostly his husband, he could be gentle and cast a kind ray of sunlight. He wasn't always a terrifying soul.
Everyone has a soft side.
Violin was his opposite, his aura was soft and luminous like the moon. Clear in the night sky. He showed what kind of person he was and that he cared deeply for the clan as much as his partner did. Violin, just like the moon, had a magnetic pull that wasn’t forceful but it was calming and gentle. But the moon controls the tides and the oceans tides can become something fearsome.
Even though Violin provided a soft light for others to feel welcomed in, he could be cold and a force not to be trifled with. He could drag you down into the abyss of the seas and slowly drown you till you’ve run out of air.
Morgana found herself sketching the duo in her sketchbook, it was a bad habit she couldn’t help. Whenever she found herself focused or lost in thought the woman ended up drawing someone.
Well, at least it was better than not doing anything but it'd be for the best to try and at least get acquainted with the Music Enforcers.
Accordion took notice of the young woman drawing in her sketchbook but also looking rather lost in thought.
“Hmm, that's a familiar face I haven't seen in a while.” He hummed.
Violin looked in the direction his partner was to see Morgana Price, “Oh, that's the woman in the elites! If I remember correctly her name was Morgana Price, …something the matter?” He noticed the way his lover stared at her.
Accordion walked over to her without a word as he caught her glancing at him and his partner only to make eye contact with him. Her face immediately flushed with embarrassment as she hid behind her sketchbook.
.
.
Shit.
Morgana was internally screaming as she had been caught in the act of sketching the Music Enforcers, though it was an unintentional thing she should have just turned over the page and started something else rather than continuing to sketch the duo.
The female artist couldn't just run away from this situation, that'd be inappropriate, childish even. She's a grown adult and she could handle this properly like one…it's just that the duo frighten her a tiny bit. Bringing her sketchbook down from hiding her embarrassed face, Morgana saw Accordion right in front of her.
“Hello there, Miss Price.” He said with a smile.
“M..Morgana, please.” She anxiously responded, “No need to be so formal with me, Accordion. I don't believe we've had the pleasure of getting to know each other.”
“Well then..” Accordion extended a gloved hand out to Morgana, “Accordion Arcoil, pleasure to officially make your acquaintance.”
The woman sheepishly smiled, “The pleasure is all mine, truly! You and your partner do so much around the clan I must confess that you make me feel very safe.”
The music enforcer chuckled, “Really? A moment ago you were shying away behind your sketchbook.”
“O...Oh! Heh, you noticed I was sketching not too long ago. I may have gotten carried away.” Morgana was turning red again, though she wasn't anxious. More like ashamed.
Violin came over to join the conversation, he was rather curious having overheard the woman had been drawing and his lover had caught her.
It occurred to him that Morgana had been sketching him and his partner!
“May we see it?” He asked with curiosity.
Morgana shyly opened up the sketchbook to the page where she had been sketching the duo, “It’s nothing special, just a few sketches of the both of you. Sorry, for staring at you earlier I just…got a bit lost in thought while drawing and well when I realized I had been drawing both of you I got rather embarrassed that I hadn’t been paying attention to what I was doing.”
The artist shyly handed her sketchbook over to Accordion, Violin peeking around his husbands arm eagerly wanting to see Miss Price’s lovely art.
“Morgana, dear, these are so amazing!” Violin gushed.
Accordion smiled as he looked over the sketch of him and his partner entering the room, Morgana seemed to enjoy capturing moments in time no matter how small they seemed to others, every detail mattered to the woman seeing as she had put so much care into the shading, using cross hatching and simple lines to bring it all together.
“Violin is right, this really IS amazing…” Accordion hummed, “Would it be alright if we kept these?” he asked
The woman tried to contain her excitement but it wasn’t possible, “Yes, yes, absolutely! You can keep that page, I’m so glad you two enjoy my art!” Morgana grinned.
Oh she was a gem and absolutely deserved to be noticed for such an incredible talent.
“Morgana, we LOVE it! You put your heart into making such detailed sketches of us, I especially enjoy the side view of Accordion’s face.~” Violin smirked.
He definitely got a chuckle out of her for that.
“Thank you, I was originally someone hoping to make it big in the art community but some things just aren’t meant to be.” Morgana sighed, “But I don’t wish to bore you with my past, the present is what currently matters for now. It’s truly a gift to be here and I’d love for the three of us to get to know each other properly.”
Accordion nodded his head in agreement, “I couldn’t agree more, I think it’d be nice to get to know you.”
Just as Morgana had gently ripped away the page with sketches of the Music Enforcers, someone unfamiliar entered the lounge. A young lady with azure blue long hair in braids, wearing a black vest over a magenta colored long sleeved shirt, brown pants, black boots and a gunslinger belt. Atop her head rested a cowgirl’s hat.
“Oh, howdy strangers!” The blue haired woman waved to the trio enthusiastically. “Don’t mind me, ah’m jus’ wanderin’ around this here airship.”
Morgana, Violin and Accordion all glanced at one another then back to the newcomer with curiosity.
“Are you new-” “Eeeyup! You betcha, mah name..oh hold on there pardner!” Just as she had interrupted Accordion she raised her index finger signaling for him to give her a moment.
A moment to compress herself into a spring like shape and launch over to the group with a comedic BOING!
“There we are, now then as ah was sayin’..” She held her hand out for Accordion to shake, “Mah name’s Jinjer. Jinjer Quickdraw.”
Accordion and the other two blinked their eyes a few times in disbelief after having seen miss Jinjer launch herself like she just did towards them. What an interesting character she was. Certainly not afraid to show what she could do and she was rather friendly.
“A..Accordion, it’s quite a pleasure to meet you, Miss Jinjer.”
The cowgirl grinned as she took his hand while stretching up to half his height to get a good look at the tall man, “Aw shucks, thank ya kindly! Oh and what about the two of ya?” Jinjer didn’t waste a second as her arms tangled in Violin and Morgana’s directions so she could shake their hands as well.
“Violin.” The man in blue chuckled as he shook her hand, “Accordion and I are partners.”
Morgana giggled as she shook Jinjer’s hand, “Morgana Price, I must say for a new recruit you are something else Miss Quickdraw. You’re truly unafraid to express yourself.”
The new recruit spun around as she returned to her natural height as her boot heels clicked against the flooring, “You sure got that right madame, this here clan seemed like a home for misfits and criminals such as mahself!~” Jinjer adjusted her little crisscross tie.
“I see..” The artist hummed before she felt a moment of motivation striking her again, “I hope this is alright to ask you, Jinjer, but would you mind if I sketched you while we talked?” Morgana looked sheepishly at the husbands. “And if it is alright with the both of you if Jinjer joins us, I think we should help her out with getting used to the clan.”
Violin smiled as he took a seat next to Morgana, “I wouldn't mind at all, are you alright if I take a seat?”
The artist shook her head, “No, not at all! If you and Accordion would like I'll scoot over a bit for you two.”
Accordion chuckled, “I think I'll just lean on the wall for a little while we all chat.”
Where Morgana felt so happy to have made new friends, Jinjer was glad to have found a good group of people who were so kind and welcoming to her.
“ALRIGHTY! I never thought I'd be makin’ so many friends in the span of a day, yeehaw!” Jinjer hollered in excitement, her arms stretched out to nab a nearby chair to pose for Morgana. “I'm glad to be there muse as well Ma'am, if you need somethin’ new lemme know! I’m very FLEXIBLE.~”
The female artist chuckled as she began sketching out Jinjer in her sketchbook, “Thank you very much, Jinjer. I appreciate your enthusiasm.”
Realizing that Jinjer was a new recruit, Accordion was curious how many more new recruits had been taken in.
“Say, Jinjer?”
“Hmm?” She hummed.
“Would you happen to know any of the other new recruits? Asking out of curiosity.” Accordion explained.
The cowgirl thought for a moment before a lightbulb literally popped above her head before vanishing, “Ah know a fella by the name Brutus, very sweet guy, real kind and funny! Think you'd all like him too! If ya have a hard time findin’ the fella, look for a sky blue hat with a yellow, orange and red band!” Jinjer answered.
Both music enforcers looked at one another in surprise.
Yellow, orange and red…it couldn't be, they wouldn't have sent one of their own into the Toppat Clan and be that obvious.
Would they?
Maybe not, it was probably nothing but it wouldn’t hurt to keep an eye out for that Brutus fellow if they ever do meet him.
“Thank you, we'll be sure to try and get acquainted with him.” Violin nervously smiled.
“No problem, Ah'm sure you'll take a liking to him in no time!” The cowgirl kicked her legs back and forth with a smile. “Ah sure did!”
Accordion hummed as he was deep in thought now, hopefully it was just a strange coincidence and nothing more. He and Violin would find out in due time to keep the clan safe.
