If you ever get the chance to hear this piece live, please take it, it’s breathtaking.
Violin Week: Folk Song - Devil’s Dream
My internship one summer was to listen through this collection of folk songs identify the songs and the create videos to help make the recordings more accessible. It could be a bit much to listen to the songs for long stretches of time, but I did come to love some of them, like Devil’s Dream, the first piece played on this track.
Violin Week: Niccolo Paganini - 24 Caprices for Violin, Op. 1, No. 24
No violin celebration week would be complete without a little Paganini, one of the greatest violin composers/virtuosos.
Violin Week: Camille Saint-Saëns - Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso
I love the interplay between the solo and the orchestra in this piece.
Violin Week: Dario Marianelli - A Postcard to Henry Purcell
I love this moment from the movie. The music with the solo violin being slowly joined by the rest of the ensemble is so stunning and dramatic and highlights all of the emotions happening in the story so well.
