I find it hard to believe that people (the majority at least) think Griffith and Guts relationship does not involve them romantically, What do you think about it?

Man I have no idea how anyone could read Berserk and not see a tragic gay romance. I mean I guess I can kind of understand how people see it as one-sided (I completely disagree and think it’s a willful misreading of the story, but yk, I can understand how that misreading happens) but not even acknowledging that Griffith is in love? Idk how anyone can wear straight goggles that intense.

Griffith’s character, his behaviour, his narrative, his choices, none of them make any sense unless he’s in love with Guts lol. It’s one of those things where like, it’s not technically textual, but it’s the only reasonable understanding of the story. Everything else makes less sense and is more of a tenuous stretch.

And accompanying that it’s textual canon that whatever intense feelings Griffith feels towards Guts, Guts wants him to feel them. Guts wants those feelings directed at him, that’s the entire point of his narrative, and Griffith becomes a villain by trying to get rid of those feelings lol. Femto and NGriff enrage Guts by saying they don’t care about him. So yk, by necessity the homoeroticism is a two way street, and it’s not exactly subtle from Guts’ point of view either, particularly the suggested sexual attraction, which imo is even more blatant from Guts’ perspective than from Griffith’s.

If you’re asking what I think about fans denying the homoeroticism, then honestly, most of them are just pretending not to see it, and this is made very clear when they can barely mention Griffith without accompanying homophobic insults. If anyone out there genuinely believes there’s nothing romantic about Griffith and Guts’ relationship then idk, their understanding of the world and the nature of storytelling is entirely alien to me lol.
