i don’t think it’s you, specifically, that’s rubbing people wrong. it’s just… seeing people only jump into action when there’s a “prize” involved comes off wrong. if it IS against you, i’m sorry to hear that because you were/are just trying to help some kids, but to see people not care until there’s a benefit for THEM is just off putting, if that makes sense.

the irony is that that’s not what’s happened. i’ve been watching the notes pile up on the post, and a lot of them are just wanting a list of links. i’ve also had people just wanting the donations matched and not even bothering asking for promos. those who do have been very kind about it. i understand the criticism, but to me it’s a very removed position. my brother in law’s life depends on blood donations and where i live, they don’t have incentivized blood donations, everyone who donates blood does it for free, unlike other nations that offer financial or tax incentives to do so. the result is that blood services here very often have dangerously low levels of blood, which puts the lives of people such as my brotherin law at risk. as a result, my brother in law very much supports incentivized donations because it’s better that the donations are coming in as a result of incentives than not coming in at all. it makes me truly upset that people are turning this into a way to bully people who want something in return for their donation rather than trying to find a way to ensure as much money as possible can be given to a cause. when it comes to my brother, i don’t care if the blood that saves his life was or wasn’t incentivized, i’m just grateful he got the blood because it could fucking save his life. anyways, that’s my perspective on it lmao.
