when she first heard of a dinner, vencikye was happy for her mother; then she heard who satine was with. she hasn’t had a moment of peace since. it has to be a scheme to get at her, has to — if pienna al trel is actually interested in her mother, well, she thinks she might die. and she can’t even talk to satine about it, because satine is too sweet and too trusting to feel that anything is off about the senator; whereas she’s known that pienna is evil since she was a child and the ralltiiri would scare her on purpose. she hates the thought of confronting pienna, but she hates the thought of pienna with her mother even more. so she makes her way through the senate building, feeling her heart speed up when she finally spots a telltale flash of green.
“ senator al trel! a moment, please. ” despite her use of ‘please’, vencikye does not actually wait for a response, planting herself firmly in the woman’s path. she crosses her arms and presses on in a lower tone, trying not to sound hostile: “ what do you want with my mother? ”
