Really stressed out and down about my upcoming final SS disability hearing, so here is a photo of my little pumpkin friend, the latest addition to my home haven/writing room. That frame is of Virginia Poe, Edgar’s cousin and wife, specifically of her death mask that Edgar had commissioned on her deathbed. True love. (The hairy eyeball coming from the green frame on the right is Daphne DuMaurier, the author of, amongst other things, the novel Rebecca. In that photo, she looks appropriately enough as if she’d just seen a ghost. My little initial pumpkin is on top of my horror movie shelf; the movies stacked there are too tall to fit inside it. Under it is the Omen box set and the first season of the X-Files; to the left is the three-part Scream box set, the second season of Twin Peaks, and the special edition of Midsommar (see the one wee little peen?) There. I made a list and cataloged horror stuff. I oddly feel better. Time to watch a horror movie and pretend this isn’t happening. Y’all, being disabled is not staying home and doing whatever you want. It’s constant pain and not being able to do what you want because your body and brain won’t let you, and bureaucratic nightmares, and money fears, and on and on. #horror #october #octoberseason #virginiapoe #edgarallanpoe #horrordecor #horrormovies #daphnedumaurier #disabilityawareness https://www.instagram.com/p/CUawUGHFQlH/?utm_medium=tumblr
